Let me start off with a bit of a back story. My friend had a band. They were going to sign with a indie label. I was going to be the band manager, even though I have no experience. The tour was set, the tour passes were mailed to us. Everything looked like a go. Until things broke down last minute and it was all over.
Fast forward a year later. I'm 23, on unemployment and can't pick a career. I like too many things to pick one. But I always felt I was meant for something other then a 9-5 job. I always felt I was meant to be known. I know everyone wishes they had that type of life but in the end, they know what they want to do for a career. I picked so many things. A chef, teacher, baker, radio personality, paralegal, lawyer, and currently a nurse. As much as I like all those things, I don't think they are for me as something to do for the rest of my life. I've been in and out of schools way too much. When I wanted to cook, I went to Johnson and Wales, a $30,000 a year school. I lasted 2 weeks!!
If the band manager thing went through, I would have been like a kid on christmas morning. I would have handled tours, press relations, money etc. In fact, I still want to be a manager of sorts. Whether its a band or actors. I just don't know how to really get started. How much can one person google. I just love the idea of traveling to different places, meeting new people. I know being a manager is lots of work but it would be something I would love to do b/c its not a typical job. I know there are degrees for this sorta thing but id rather freelance.
