Mortgage, Taxes Push Stephen Baldwin Into Bankruptcy (http://blogs.wsj.com/bankruptcy/2009/07/21/mortgage-taxes-push-stephen-baldwin-into-bankruptcy/)

His bankruptcy petition says his Upper Grandview, N.Y., home is worth $1.1 million, but he owes $1.19 million on two mortgages. Big income tax troubles are also evident from the court filing, with $749,974 owed to the IRS on taxes as far back as 1999 and a $139,288 debt for unpaid withholding taxes, as well as $194,527 in unpaid state income taxes.

The youngest of the acting Baldwin brothers also has more than $70,000 in credit card debt to shake, according to court documents.

The filing lists no assets, other than the mortgaged-to-the rooftop house.

Ouch.

During a best-of a couple weeks ago they had an interview with him where he said he could of kept on doing movies like The Usual Suspects, but he wanted to do Bio-Dome and Viva Rock Vegas instead because they were "fun". That worked out great for him too.

[DEVIL'S ADVOCATE]Where's your GOD now, Stephen? :devil2:

He offers you eternal salvation, but can't get you a tax exemption? Yeah I'd start reevaluating promises.

Lucifer starts with the small promises; fast car, big house, hoes and TAX EXEMPTION.

See what happens when you say that there is a 3% chance that the president is the anti-Christ?

To be serious for a second, I think it's been fairly obvious for some time now that Stephen Baldwin is mentally ill. I wish the guy the best.

I'd buy up his assets but then that would mean I would get royalties from that awful BioDome flick.

it seems bleak but he's just one ebay'd grilled cheeze sandwich which bears a slight resemblance to the virgin mary away from being saved.

You say that, but I feel like a decent percentage of this country feel the same way he does.

How many people in this country think there's at least a 3% chance Obama is the anti-christ? I'd say somewhere around 5%.

I wouldn't blame the mortgage and taxes as much as i'd blame the lack of a paycheck.

If he had invested in Nyack, NY's thriving "Adult" stores, he wouldn't be in this mess.

How much time and energy did he commit to that endeavor?

May not have been the best allocation of resources.

I am not sure a bankruptcy will be such a horrible thing for Stephen. Besides, maybe he just found a way to shelter his assets and this will get rid of his debts.

OR!

Maybe God is trying to tell Stephen that money doesn't matter, saving souls is his calling. Or God is trying to revoke Stephen's franchise.

he could just turn his property into a house of worship and start his own church... I am sure taxes won't be an issue anymore after that.
