View Full Version : Horrible weekend!!!

Went up to Saratoga Springs this weekend to visit a friend from HS. I didn’t really hang out with her in HS but we really hit it off at a mini HS reunion that someone set up through Facebook.

It was SO DRAINING and SUCH a dramafest!!!! She has a habit of dating losers but she told me she hooked up with one of my old neighbors (the son of my parents’ best friends). When she told me that I was thinking, “Hooray! She finally found a nice, stable guy!” They always used to baby sit me.

Now, granted, I haven’t seen the guy in 30 years. I figured, since he’s 47, he’d be somewhat established; have a place of his own, maybe be in business for himself. NOPE!!!! He’s a FRIGGIN crackhead!!!

I couldn’t believe it!!! He’s a loser. All the sons wound up being losers. It really broke my heart because I thought I could reconnect with a good person who really KNEW my family. I just don’t understand it—why CRACK?!?! I had no idea it was in my little home town.

And all weekend I had to console this girl. I was her therapist all weekend. She’d be mad at him one minute and then defend him the next. I had to remind her of how she HID her valuables when he went up there a few weeks ago. She even wanted him to move in with her but he freaked out when she insisted he get a job! WHAT A LOSER!!!

It breaks my heart to see her put herself through this. She says he’s a “puppy dog” that she wants to save. Yeah, a puppy dog who’ll wind up stealing from her and let his crackhead buddies into her house. The thing is, she’s gone through this before!!! She lived with an addict for 4 years and he did the worst things to her!

I don’t know what I should do. I feel like I should have her back so she doesn’t get involved with guys like these (but, then again, she tends to omit important details… like a guy’s drug habit!). It’s like she’s addicted to the drama (waaay too much for me!). I certainly don’t want to visit her anymore. God knows who’ll be in her house. I don’t want to get ripped off by some dirt bag she wants to save. Plus, it wasn’t all that much fun being around her.

I'd say she's a lost cause. Sucks that she is going through that, but its just the way she's wired. She will continue her self destructive behavior whether you console her or not. She needs professional help.

People are heavy and hard to carry. Usually the effort just exhausts you and doesnt get you more than 5 feet

Tell her to visit the Humane Society and save a real puppy.

It'll love her unconditionally and not steal from her pocketbook while she's sleeping.

'Zackly. I've never seen a puppy smoke crack either. They're not that stupid.

Sorry about the lost weekend and your friend as well. I would have bolted earlier than you did. You've gone on well this many years without her maybe it's best if you keep the distance.

Fucking expectations. They'll get you every time.

Cold hard facts; this is the most likely scenario:

I'd say she's a lost cause. Sucks that she is going through that, but its just the way she's wired. She will continue her self destructive behavior whether you console her or not. She needs professional help.

I am sorry you had to experience that Petrina and I hope for her sake that she opens her eyes one day, but she has been heading in the wrong direction for years.
