View Full Version : Your expectations of a higher power?
Listening to Fez talk about God this week, it seems to me that he doesn't have a problem with God, rather a problem with the expectations of God that he was raised with. Its actually kind of sad to me that he was raised with certain expectations and now is finding those expectations to be false.
So I ask you mighty board friends: What are your expectations of a higher power and how is your God meeting those expectations?

I want to have happiness for myself.
That is all.

Kids are lied to constantly when they are younger just to find out everything they believed in is bullshit. God, Santa Claus, mortality. I'm gonna try to not lie to my kid, see how that turns out.
this is your finest work ever? you must have low expectations of yourself

There is some incredible force in this universe that creates life, planets, stars, winds, rain, music, etc.
It doesn't judge or play favorites; it merely IS.
How you navigate your way through this life with all of these forces is entirely up to you.

If there is a God, he either doesn't know that I exist, or he doesn't give a shit. I have no expectations of God.

Damn right.
No expectations, because if you do expect, you're just making yourself and the people around you miserable.

Agreed, which is the biggest reason why I moved so far away from organized religion. For me, this force in the universe doesn't have anything to do with whether or not I covet my neighbor's wife.
I don't covet her for my own reasons.
She's fugly.

That's a very hard and interesting question.
You are the anti Lleeder and I mean that in the highest regards.
We're told God is everything and anything. All knowing, all caring. However when we come to him with out problems they aren't always solved or handled.
So is that a case of God not caring? Are our expectations too high? Does he even exist and we're just talking to ourselves?
I know what I believe but hell if I know. Ask me when I'm dead, I should have the answer then.

I agree. The only thing I expect is a place to go after I die. The rest is up to me.

My mortality is a lie? Are there other immortals? Can there be only one? So many questions.

We don't like your kind around here. All of the folks on this board are God-fearing folk and believe in some form of God whether it be Jesus or the wrong one. Now git!!!
