I'm surprised there isn't a thread for this flick yet. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GxSDZc8etg)
I've seen it twice so far and it's easily my favorite film of the year. It's funny, fucking intense and it looks fantastic. It's definitely the only film about the current Iraq War that isn't a piece of shit (though Generation Kill ruled).
Anyone else see it?

I want to see this so badly! Is there a date for nationwide release, or do I have to wait for the blu-ray?

I'm with you Mojo. Not only easily one of the year's best so far but one of the best war films I have ever seen. Stated its case early on - war is a drug - and drove the point home perfectly. It made you feel as though you were in combat and brilliantly got you inside the heads of the soldiers.

I seen it. I commented in the 'movie you just watched' thread. Its in my top 2 or 3 of the year so far. One of my favorite war films. One of only a couple (at best) Iraq war films.
Maybe the best 'masculine' film a female has ever made. A movie star turning role for Jeremy Renner. Just fantastic

Saw this last night. Thought it was fantastic. If Inglorious Basterds is as good as I think it's gonna be this is gonna be a great movie week for me. Might even throw District 9 in there.

I saw it last weekend, and yeah, it's probably the best movie I've seen this year so far. Then again, the competition hasn't been too tough.

I watched it from the comfort of my own home. What a great movie.

Unless you have a 100 inch with great surround sound, that doesn't sound as fun.

It's at the little indie theater on my street starting tomorrow, I'm looking forward to it.

I wasn't blown away by this, no pun intended. I wanted to be because Bigelow is one of my favorite directors. I felt like the nature of the lead character was at odds with the stark realism of the film. He seemed like he would've been more at home in a pure escapist action picture which, unless I completely missed the boat, this film wasn't trying to be. I didn't buy that he would've had almost a thousand disarmings under his belt with how reckless he behaved, and he seemed to go against the universal credo that military service is all about the man beside you instead of yourself. I also thought the detours the story took away from the tense moments of explosive device dismantling didn't really have a payoff, such as the sniper standoff and when the guy went awol to find the kid's house. A good but not great film in my estimation.

"Stark realism?"
Most of the movie is at least a little surreal.

I think it sumed up his character when the specialist told him it was all to satisfy his adrenaline rush. As for him never getting killed, yes, maybe you have to stretch your belief for that a little. And the whole reason his team hated him and wanted to kill him is because he was all about himself instead of the guy next to him. I have no way to prove this but I have a feeling it was the most realistic war movie in terms of what situations are really like, not what personalities might be like.
I saw this film on the flight back yesterday (heavily edited of course) and was very impressed with the film: especially the locations. I see that it was shot in Kuwait and Jordan to maintain the authenticity.

Finally got around to seeing this, as I'm sure a lot more people have. Great film. One of the most intense films I've seen in a while. Edge of your seat intense. Well deserved for a best picture Oscar, as it was much better than Avatar. All the cameos were nice surprises too.
