View Full Version : Dying Young?

How old does someone have to be so that when they die people don't say he/she died "young"?

Obviously the age has gone up over time. I think if someone dropped dead at age 50 we'd say they died young, whereas several years ago that might not have been the case.

Is 60 the magic number where people no longer thing you passed "before your time"?

I've heard family and friends say about someone who die in the early '70's as dying young.

Myself, I don't think as 60's or 70's being young for death. Yes, is lower than the average or what we hope for our life, but it's not someone dying at 15, 25, or 38.

And in the last four years, I've known at five people who died in their mid thirties with families. That's young.

It depends on who you're talking about.

65 for most people.

However, if Keith Richards dropped dead tomorrow you'd think he made it pretty far.

Dude!

That sucks.

One two three is bad. Five is...shit. Unbearable.

Let's all hug our kids.

(and will someone in Jersey drive over and hug Gvac for us?)

The human ego being what it is, for most people anybody who dies and is younger than you has "died young".

I plan on dying in a year or two. I expect everyone to find it tragic. Make a big deal about it.

Around the time Christ was born, Rome was well into its Golden Age under the leadership of Augustus, first emperor of the newly established Roman Empire. Mankind peaked at that moment and the quality of life was such that would not be known by humans until sometime in the 19th century.

Average life expectancy of a citizen of Rome was 25. Makes ya think...

I think an unnatural death, no matter the age, the person died young.

Unless the person already went through a previous health scare.

Example: Grandma gets a pneumonia, everyone expects her to die, but she makes it, when leaving the hospital grandma gets hit by a car.... Final destination-esque

You damn Floridians and your Bible Belt logic... if you get hit by a car and are 74 years old, you still died at a ripe old age!!! Don't drive on the Turnpike anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so misunderstood. Stop grouping me in this prejudiced view.

What if 74 year old didn't get hit by a car, and lived to be 105, then she died young.

Julio Gallo died at the age of 83 in a car accident in 1993. My estranged wife and I bought some cheap wine that day, and fucked each other silly in his honor. She never admitted it to her boyfriend, who worked at a winery.

Tragic

Midget years function much like dog years; one normal human person year is 7 or 8 years to them. If Rover keels over and dies after running amok for 12 years, you don't say "Omg a child-aged dog just died!! so young!!"

I will say this tho... that Mini-Me is gettin' to be the Father Time of Midgets. And the Seinfeld midget too. I just saw him in a burger king commercial the other year. Ancients.
