So, at this "Beer Summit", Joe Biden ended up drinking a non-alcoholic beer.

I have no idea why I put this much thought into this, but I couldn't get it out of my head for some reason.

Anyway, I kept thinking why the non-alcoholic beer. That left me with three possible explanations.
First, he's a recovering alky. Unlikely since everything in a politician's life becomes well known to the public and I've never heard any such allegations.
Second, he hates beer, but had to look like he fit in.
Third, he and his staff were covering their own ass in case something went down in the country.

What I mean by that last one is this. Say something happened that required the President to act. If by chance Obama fucked up in his decision you know damn well that people (mostly Republicans) would be up in arms, saying he was impared when he made his decision. Stupid, but the other side will always try to spin anything and everything they can.

With Biden drinking a non-alcoholic beer, he could be seen as a smart thinker that wouldn't jeopardize the country by "getting sloshed".

Yeah, I know, I way over thought this. Either way, which of the above seems like the most likely situation?

I believe the story is out that Biden came from an alcoholic family and has never touched a drop because of it.

The truth is that none of the 3 answers you provided is correct.

Biden claims to have never had a drop of alcohol in his entire life and seems intent on keeping it that way.

I don't know if it's for religious reasons or otherwise, but that's the simple truth.

if he hated beer, fake beer would have the same flavor without the alcohol. that choice would make no sense on his part.

wait, so the official story is the same as earl's story? we're fucked as a nation.

Although Senator Joe Biden's father was not a heavy drinker, several members of the family of the Senator's mother were alcoholics, as were many Scranton neighbors. Eventually so too was the Senator's younger brother. In reaction, Joe Biden abstains from alcohol entirely.

That's all I need. A very responsible move on his part.

Do you guys know Joe Biden at all?

He's batshit insane.

A fucking lunatic.

NOTHING he's ever done makes any sense.

Why would he start now?

Oh well, so much for that.

And to think I actually looked it up beforehand to see if there were any alky related issues and never came across that info. I suck! :wallbash:

Not necessarily.

It just shows how unique that Vice President Biden's story truly is.

Technically an N/A Beer is 0.5% alcohol content or less. Essentially there is so little it really doesn't matter.

Wait, so W admitted abusing alcohol, and did his job without anyone seriously attacking that issue while he was president. And somehow, Washington would have a problem with this?

Non-alcoholic beer has a trace of alcohol so he did actually have some.

tell that to an alcoholic.

Occasionally my dad (alcoholic, now dry) has one. He hasn't felt any effects, so I'll trust his opinion.

good for him, seriously. i know guys who won't risk it starting them off again. heck, some folks won't even take certain cold medicines out of fear of a relapse.

you cant criticize the guy for having a beer in his home. while technically, he is on duty every minute of his 4 year term, he's the fucking president. let him have a beer.
besides. i dont care what you say, one beer will not put you over the edge. especially a bud light.

Churchill led Great Britain to victory in WWII and I believe he was drunk on whiskey the entire time.

Oh yea. Like I said before, nothing to do but drink in that town. Back then, I'd imagine it was much, much worse.

Yep, he grew up on the same block as my Dad. All of their parents were somehow tied to the mines. My Grandpop was an accountant for the mines and owned a bar.
Dad remembered "Joey" from the neighborhood.

I'd be more concerned if he drank a daquri.
