Ever since coming to XM, Ron has had immense trouble with phone calls. They share the studio with O & A, but Opie rarely loses a caller. So what happens when Ron and Fez enter the same studio minutes later?

Ron loses on average every 3rd or 4th caller. This is NOT an attack, just confusion with the system.

What is happening? Is the mouse too sticky after Opie? It happens at least a dozen times per show. YOU ALL are aware of this embarrassment.

Ron: Mike, Mike you're on the Ron and Fez show...

Mike? Mike? Oh, Mike...we lost you...

Where did Mike go? Is it pacing? I'm only comparing it with the Opie and Anthony show...but these complications don't happen on the previous program.

If anyone has a real reply, I'd love to know. I've called both shows...and have only had issues with R & F. Are their call-screeners complete shit? And if so, Ron still attempts to talk to them...but loses their call.

Odd.

P.S. I grew up listening to Ron and Ron...and I adore the contemporary incarnation.

I'm just worried that know one cares about the flood of phone calls (screeners/satellite)...before Ron has to pretend to listen to their Ichibans.

NOW, bitch me out without discussing the issue...

Cannibals.

so Sue Bender wants to be added to the Dr. Joek, Gvac, Wampus list of ronfez.net posters that do nothing but bitch and ruin the board with negativity (CWD is an a bizarre category of his own)? Ronfez.net is for fans, Sue! If you don't like Ron & Fez, don't listen and go post somewhere else. I hear Spread the Iris is taking applications.

I realize that you're being sarcastic... (Oh, and I still want pics of your pierced testicles)

HOWEVER...

This isn't meant that way...but this technicality has always bothered me.

I'm not being as offensive as pushing myself into studio (in representation of the board)...just to bore many listeners only to shit brown water in the proverbial bed.

It's ONLY a question.

I'm not making the majority PAY for MY misconstruction.

My ego could never grow THAT large.

That's exactly where the trouble lies. I should have cut to the chase.

I have always thought it was a staffing issue. O&A seem to have a paid staff of hundreds so they don't have to have interns as phone screeners. Whenever Ron asks who they have as screener , the answer usually comes back as <insert intern name here>

I hope it's because Ron just doesn't want to talk to 20 different Mikes during the show.

I think a lot of them are people who get frightened and hang up. The first time I called in I did just that. My brain blanked and I couldn't think of anything to say so I just hung up. I would guess I am not the only person to do this.

There is definitely something up with the rhythm of how they go to the calls- the majority of the times I've called I haven't clicked over live until after they say "you're on Ron and Fez" The effect is they're in the middle of a sentence that isn't the phone call prompt, then silence. I feel bad for callers that get off on the wrong foot because they dont know thats when they're supposed to just start talking.

Maybe they think they've been cut off at that point.

O and A take about 1/4 the callers RF do. I bet if they went to more calls they would see an increase of "drops"

good point and remember when the phones were always going down it was more prominent on R&F because it's more of a call in show. Not that it didn't happen on o&a.

I've called both shows and I think the screeners are equally good. When Scruffy is takin calls for RnF he's the best out there. Like Casey said the sheer volume of calls that they take is different. Another thing is that at times Opie will just read off a call like it was an instant feedback. So the line gets on the air but he never has to pick it up and possibly deal with technical issues or a dumb caller.

Yeah at times this can happen where you can hear the end of talking and not know if its your turn or not. Usually if you wait Ron will resay your name and you can get into it. If I don't know I just go into my call as soon as possible.

The screeners tend to put the wrong name up on occasion and people not familiar with calling in do not answer to the wrong name.

Maybe Ron just wants to get rid of them before they ask him how he's doing? Of course, that doesn't stop the other 90% of callers from saying the same thing.

This was my guess. I figured either they were on hold too long,
or they just chickened out. I never thought it was a tech issue.

From what I've heard, O and A callers say their piece and "punch out".
When you call R and F, youre being invited into a discussion, where your opinion will matter, and perhaps be challenged by others. Quite intimidating, which is why I never call.

If you've never called, it's hard to describe what it sounds like when you're finally put through to speak to Ron and Fez. There's a "whoosh" type sound and suddenly you're connected. No one comes on and says "you're next" or anything like that.

I think a lot of people who are unfamiliar with it think they've been hung up on or else don't know they're the one that Ron has gone to, because you hear the show while you're waiting on hold.

I've always figured that at least part of the time Ron is doing it on purpose because they have moved on to another topic or he doesn't want to hear the particular comment.Pretending to drop the call allows him to move on and free up the line without coming off like an asshole.

I have never gotten a "whoosh" sound. I just listen for him to say "Clint, your the Ron & Fez show" then I start talking.

one of the strangest pranks i made the host did just that. while in commercial he picked up the line and asked me what my story was. then he came out of spots and took the call as if he was hearing it for the first time. i thought for sure he would have spotted me as a fraud but he loved all the bullshit i fed him.

That's crossed my mind too, but every radio show has that whoosh sound and they all have periodic hang ups. Ron just makes a bigger deal about it than other hosts and plays tailor-made mediocre song parodies.

It does probably have more to do with nervous callers than anything else. Being lambasted by your favorite radio personality may damage a sensitive psyche. :glurps:
