GREEN POOP!

I'm sorry if this is gross, but here goes...

My stomach started cramping today, and I went to use the bathroom. I noticed that my poop was a very strange color. It was literally bright green...like this shade.

I don't drink very often at all, and almost never in excess, except I did so for the first time in a few years two nights ago. My body had a terrible reaction to it, and I was unable to hold anything down, drink or food, until 3:30 pm yesterday, and felt queasy until I went to sleep last night. This is the only change in diet/drink that I've had recently, so I figured there was a connection between the two, but I just wanted a second opinion from the good doctor. Any thoughts?

I wonder what you were drinking...the main cause of bright green colored poop is food dye. My kids ate some "Kix Yogurt" once...it was blue and their shit came out the most beautiful emerald green. That was enough to tell me the stuff in the yogurt wasn't natural and I never bought it again but I did some research on green poop and that's what I found.

So if you were doing some mixed drinks, especially of the margarita or other fruity drink type, ("Bikini-Tini" anyone?) it may well have been something in the gawdawful artificial colors in the drinks themselves that dyed your feces green. If you were drinking beer, then it may have been something you ate.

In any case, if it only happened once, it's probably something you can ignore.

we see CLAY colored stools when people have an obstruction in their bile duct. these are yellowy stools with THIS COLOR. Honestly, I've never heard of GREEN stools being associated with malabsorption, which is what you're describing.

The poop I'm talking about above is a lovely emerald green. Just greeny-brown shit is normal from time to time.

Thank you Doctor Steve. (Sorry for the delayed thank you...haven't been on in awhile). I was drinking vodka cranberries, so that would explain it. I also go through weeklong cravings of certain things, and recently ate a shitload (no pun intended) of Rita's wild black cherry italian ice...I was pooping green for days.

I also ate beets last night and I pooped red this morning. It was pretty amazing.
