This reminds me of the Spalding Grey film Grey's Anatomy. It's a monologue about Grey being diagnosed with macular degeneration, and all the wacky stuff he did to avoid getting surgery. It's intercut with peoples stories about their horific eye trauma, like the lady who thought the crazy glue was eye drops, and the guy who shot a metal splinter into his eye, then pulled it out with pliers.
