If the guy's training you for radio show funny man guest, then he doesn't have a thing to worry about.

If the person training you knows you should be a little nervous and worried that they will train you to do things in such a way as you get fired.

Like a guy who is about to do the same job for less money then the guy before him. I'd ask for a raise as soon as he's gone.

i know a guy who had to train his out-sourced replacement (who they flew in from India for the training) or he wouldn't have gotten his severance package.

yeah, when i got laid off, i just got called into my boss' office and told "your employment here is over." maybe i shouldn't have constantly corrected him and pointed out all the mistakes he made. but that's another story...
but hanging a "you better train your replacement right, or you won't get a severance" threat over a guy's head is pretty mean.

yeah, it's not gonna feel good, but you can also spend time before being laid off looking for a job. i wish i had had advance notice when i was going to be laid off.

I was once hired as a bartender at a chain steak house, and was told that I was going to be trained by the chick that I would be replacing. They said she didn't know, but she was such a cunt they just had to get rid of her. I felt bad... Until the first night I worked with her. She was such a cunt, I quit.

My advice would be to remember what kind of loyalty your company shows for their employees and dont forget it.
I worked at a place like that and learned right away that loyalty and extra work dont mean anything and are forgotten immediately in the corporate world.
As my coworkers were killing themselves and hating their life because they were constantly doing extra and doing favors for the company I did the bare minimum. Just did my job, made my money and went home. No favors. No extra work. So while management made these monkeys jump through hoops while holding promotions over there head forever they basically ignored me and let me do my thing without bothering me.

I am on vacation this week but I am expected to work at least two days this week because we are short-staffed. This is corporate America in 2009.

Does he know he is being let go after you are done being trained? If so, be wary of what he is teaching you, and realize that he may bale out of there early and leave you untrained fully, and you will struggle slightly as you figure it out on your own. That happened to a lot of people I know. Also, keep in mind as you do the job that at some point, if they ask you to train someone, that you will likely suffer the same fate as him.

republicans make it easy for companies to leave, and the democrat's chase them out.
i think they are in it together.
