He killed on O and A today...

I think it would be awful, it would be Ron trying to make intelligent points and Patrice yelling over him at the top of his lungs about the right way to fuck a bitch.

I love Patrice.
I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I love hearing him talk about it.
That being said, he and Ron would be a horrible radio duo.
Patrice needs his own show.

Ron and Patrice would be good but I feel like they wouldnt work great together on a day to day basis.
Patrice definitely needs his own show.
I think the real dream pairing is Ron and Anthony. Throw me an ESD/punching bag third mic for them to rip on and let the two geniuses make magic...that my friends is some good radio

Yes two betas work, like two bottoms, one will be passive enough to take the roll as a top.
Two alphas and neither will settle.

both hilarious... yes... but, Anthony can't speak to many topics... where I've heard Ron speak to every topic but one... Guns (outside of a mention of enjoying a movie with a Tommy Gun in it)

I loved the Patrice unmasked, but I do think Patrice approached that differently than he does O&A. That was Ron interviewing Patrice, not Patrice being a part of a show.

Ron & Patrice > Sam & Dave
Patrice has called in to Ron and Fez before, and judging from that conversation I think he's got a lot of respect for Ron. The two are definitely both alpha-dogs, but I think they would have some great conversations... not as the R&P show, but if he ever wanted to visit Ron and Fez (assuming that wouldn't piss off Opie too much).
On another note, I saw Patrice at Zanies in Nashville a few months ago and he KILLED. It was incredibly raunchy, sexist, and mildly racist, but that's exactly what I'd expect and it was hilarious. Even better, Jack White was sitting at the table behind me and he was cracking up as hard as I was.

I'm devastated by this. Awful. If you listen between the lines, things don't sound the greatest, Sam was referring to him in the past tense on the shit show but miracles happen and it sounds like Patrice needs one.
What I love and will always love about him, is that he had original opinions and convictions and always willing to stick with them. He was someone I would call truly wise and you didn't have to love everything he said, but his delivery was irresissitable. I'm going to be incredibly jealous and hope we get him back in a way we recognize but if not, I hope he finds peace going forward.
Such a fucking bummer.

Strokes are really fucking hard to figure out how it will effect the person and for my mother in law it was over a year before she came out of rehab, now my father had a mild stroke and he was only effected for around a month and now is pretty normal 80 year old man.
Now my dog could not use her rear legs for 2 months and then came out of it and lived until 13.
Crazy shit hope he is like my dad and not long term effected.

He is the funniest motherfucker out there. Not just his humor..his attitude, his crazy way of thinking about relationships...just makes me laugh my ass off.
Saw him 5 times live and each time he was great.
Wish him well and hope full recovery.

Actually, some hospices do have physical therapy. And a lot of times, hospices are just separate areas of nursing homes. Which, incidentally, a lot of incapacitated stroke victims DO go if there if the stroke was that bad.
Nursing homes aren't just for old people or end-of-life situations... there are long-term care facilities that aren't hospitals. Kind of like where Gabby Giffords went after she was shot.
Every time this gets bumped, I get a little bit more nervous.
Come on Patrice! Give us a 100% recovery

I tried listening to that interview. I gotta say... I don't understand what thee FUCK Patrice was talking about half the time.
All those analogies about sharks & food & kings & queens & bitches & the animal kingdom and all that stuff.... NONE of that worked. It wasn't funny... it was hard to follow... and it certainly wasn't going anywhere. I wouldn't even consider him to "sharp"... much less "brilliant".
If you're telling me that the podcast gets better from there... I'll check it out. But god DAMN that first 15-20 mins was mindless.
His prepared standup is how should be remembered.

Alot of people dont get him. Its ok. He was pretty much explaining how women now like to try to be the dominant gender, but once they find a man that allows them to be, they get bored quickly and go right to an alpha male. One thats not going to tolerate that bullshit.

Of course... I understood that was what he was trying to convey. But I'll tell you this.... what you just typed was infinitely more palatable than the long-winded point that Patrice was dancing around.
It was FAR from "brilliant".
I guess what I'm saying is; his standup is where it's at.

Yea well its alot easier to make the point when youre just trying to explain it. Doing it while trying to be funny is alot harder. I usually like when hes debating. I always felt he had a very unique way of thinking, and alot of times was right on the mark.

I don't think he was trying to be funny. Unless the interview is going wrong, people on WTF are not being funny. They are often just talking some real shit with a fellow comic. The interview goes on to discuss Patrice's thoughts on fathers and how he didn't have one & what it did to him, Patrice talks about going to jail for statutory rape at 17, how Boston racism impacted him, and why it's so important that he make it.
I'll agree he was rambling in the beginning but since I quit listening to O&A a long time ago, I was happy to hear him talking his men vs. women shit again.

You're right. I'm funnier, smarter, and cooler than Patrice and everyone else here on .net.

I havent listened to the Maron interview yet but I totally get what fezident is saying. There were plenty of times Patrice's opinions or statements didnt add up for me, whether he was trying to be funny or not. I more often agreed with him than not but he could certainly be long winded and fixated on making a premise work that might not be a worthy premise.
He was really funny and honest and quick but he wasn't some infallible oracle of wisdom.
