Death on steel runners. Do modern-day plastic toboggans match up?

There was nothing more dangerous than an old fashioned Flexible Flyer gliding down a snowy hill crowded with people. We all had them, I had the "Deluxe", which was longer and had bigger blades. It was someting out of "The Road Warrior".
Remember you took a running start and you would belly flop on it and all of your friends would pile on? LOL

I loved my flexible flyer. I just gave my old one to my nephew. Remember waxing your runners with a candle. We lived in West Babylon. We used to use the hills on the exit ramps on the southern state parkway. You would have to slow up or jump off before you hit the pavement at the bottom of the hill.

Remember playing demolition derby on sleds trying knock everyone off of their sleds on the way down the hill.

My sled would fly down hills especially on ice. I could make great turns on that thing.

Sledding is definitely a great old school memory.

Good call, Skid. Just rented the DVD; that's what made me think of the Flyer.
