Oh god, what an up and down week. So, on monday, the check-up comes back that Baby-On-The Way is doing fine, has a strong heartbeat, and is due April 1st.
But my wife had to be admitted to the hospital for dehyrdration and very low blood pressure (70/40) and low electrolytes. Also, she had low five pounds since her visit two weeks prior.
So she spends the night in the hospital, but is released on tuesday night. Thankfully, my M-i-L comes up to help with the kids so I can go into work where things are very hectic. And my wife will be staying at her mom's on LI next week so I can go to work and not have to take care of the girls.
And then today, I had a good interview for an open position at my company.
I need a funny show today.

good to hear things with wife seems to be fine.
I had my younger daughter trip and fall in my house and while no x-rays revealed nothing, she is still limping around a bit.
Yesterday my eldest was driving and got into a fender bender.
Good news is she SEEMS fine, but she had headaches, and my wife was arguing with her about going to the hospital to check it out (daughter didn't want to go).
so, yeah, I need good easy day.

And if they weakened the signal I definitely should blame Karmazin.

I don't see a vacation in Paris as a bad thing if you can swing it. But it depends on the context. A trip to a foreign country is a perfect time to expose a child to cultural differences and expose them to different art, architecture, food and such. But the trip is only what the parents make it to be. It's the materialism, nastiness, and selfishness that needs to be done away with, not the teaching of culture and art. It really has more to do with the parenting itself, not the money. But sometimes the money ends up controlling the parenting, because what parent doesn't want their kid to have everything and also never have to hear them whine?
Teach them compassion and values, and that it's not about hording and they will be fine.

the funny thing is the nouveau riche (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=jwD&ei=bt2OSsnXJc7rlAeGrLyYDA&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=nouveau+riche&spell=1) is the worst.
the people with real money are often not as bad (Charlie - I'm sure you met some of those at Cornell- I sure did)
I agree. I go to a lot of events up on the Gold Coast. We end up talking to the people around us during intermissions and such and the old money'ed ones look like everyone else. They tend to be thriftier with their money which is smart.

Gotcha.
I've never gotten leaving your kids in a house alone for 3 weeks. I know the havoc I would have wreaked if my parents did that, and I was a fairly well behaved teen with a healthy fear of authority. I guess they think their kids are angels.
my parents did that, but for a month. oh man...the parties  she knew what we were up to, she just didn't give a shit.

 that fascinates me. i kinda get the same additude down here, but not cuz of social status, cuz we don't go to church....but i think ya already knew that
They just have to look at the other groups I belong to before they jump to their conclusions. Atheist group? Check. NORML group? Check. Jumping to conclusions can commence!

I grew up in a very diverse town. Many of the kids where still riding bikes or driving 74 Gremlins, while the kids up on the hill in "Little Israel" (not my name for it) got Camaros and BMWs for their 17th birthday.
Sickening.
Soul killing aspect to it too. How many rich college age kids on anti-depressants these days

Oh you mean the Freshman with a new BMW, that had a place off campus and a room on campus(mandatory). Yeah I know those.
Edit: To be fair, I also knew some rich kids and you wouldn't know it until you saw their cars and houses, but they never acted like "those" of which we speak.
I meant the real ones werent so bad.
the new ones were awful

Great call back. Got him calmed down, in a large part because of your and BM's posts, thanks.. It is a gorgeous car and in very good shape. He's moving back in to be able to pay for it.
