View Full Version : Are You Ready To Die?

If you found out you had two weeks to live would you be prepared for it?

I'm not talking legally or financially, such as wills and life insurance.

I'm talking your piece of mind. Would you feel like you've been living the kind of life you can be proud of and that you've accomplished what you wanted to?

I'm not afraid of dying, but I'm not ready for death. If that makes any sense.

Yes. There's plenty of things I want to do before I die, but even if I live until 100, I'll never do all of them.

I'm not talking about physical things, such as visiting a certain country or monument or making a certain amount of money.

I meant are you spiritually ready to leave the earth?

I don't fear death. I don't want to die. If I was in danger of dying and could do something to stop it, I certainly would. However, if it was my time and there was nothing I could do about it, I believe I would be at peace with it.

I have no spirituality. I'm ok with dying. When I die, I stop existing. I'm ok with that. There's nothing to fear.

It's not about fearing death. It's about valuing life.

Try taking yourself out of it. Are you ready for someone you care about to die? Even if they are ready for it.

Well both my parents died within last few years. Was pretty shitty for me, but Dad had cancer and knew what was coming and was pretty much a realist about it, in the final months the meds really put him in a stupor so not sure how cognizant about it. Mom had a stroke and pretty much didn't really remember who I was in the last few months. I'm just not sure how much you can really prepare yourself to face your own death.

I just mean that it's really hard for me to be ready for someone else's death, because I know there might be more for them to experience.

If I step out of myself and think about it, I feel the same way about my life. That's what makes it hard for me to accept dying.

I wouldnt be.

I am still pretty afraid of death.

I guess I would try to do everything I could before the end but the idea of nothingness scares the crap out of me, I don't know if I'd be able to enjoy my last 2 weeks. I'd always be worrying.

I'm the exact opposite; I find great comfort in the thought of nothingness. It only shows how trifling and meaningless the things we worry about really are.

I'm not too sure that after we expire there is nothingness, however.

The thought of having to do ANYTHING for an eternity scares me. I'm pretty sure a couple years in I would be saying screw it, transfer me to the other place. Could you REALLY not go nuts for an ETERNITY? I don't think that ideal is all its cracked up to be. Just let me enjoy the nothingness.

I've always said, if I knew I had 2 weeks to live and was in the capacities to keep functioning normally....I would go on a killing spree. I wouldn't just kill anyone who made me mad...I'm talking about the ones that gave me flack in high school...the ones who made jobs tough on me...the ones who took me for granted.

point is....better hope a Doctor never tells me that I have two weeks to live.

Just had one of my best friends from childhood burn to death in a freak accident as his lamp caught fire and the smoke knocked him out in his sleep.
Fuck.
I'm ready, but man, I got so much left I would love to do if God is willing.
Plus I gotta make sure my daughter learns whats right and wrong - u know what I'm saying.

Nothing cheers me up more when life is fucked than Ronnie B, Fez Whatley and Davey Mac.

Life is short.

Whether you ready to die or not...

LIVE LIFE!

ENJOY THIS SHIT!

IT WILL BE GONE SOON ENUFF!

God bless you everyone.

I think I would be relieved if they gave me a timeline. I come back to NYC for another bar night, hang with some friends. Tell the people I love I love them and maybe try to resolve some problems before I go out. If I make it pass the two weeks keep going.

I've come to accept the fact that when my number is up, I will not be able to stop it. I'm comfortable with the life that I've lived, so I feel I'll be comfortable with death as well.

If I were single I wouldnt be happy about it but I wouldnt have any regrets. Ive always tried to get as much out of life as I could. Never turning down an oppurtunity to try a new experience in favor of something as droll as working an extra shift. I would be at peace with it.

My biggest problem now would be having to deal with the fact that my two kids would have to go through life without their dad.

Eh, life for others goes on. I am neither scared nor have the ability to stop death if it's at my door. Do I want to continue to live? Most days yes.

Do I contemplate death, sometimes a little too much, but it brings me peace and thankfulness that I have lived another day.

Well yea, no shit life goes on for others. Still it would bother me immensely that my kids would have to lose such a huge part of their life. So many experiences theyd have to miss out on. It would really bother me.

Gese Louise! I get back from camping for a weekend and have all of these "serious" threads to look through. Honestly? I would freak out if I only had 2 weeks to live. I have high anxiety. I have a good feeling of what happens after my death, but holy crap, I don't want only 2 weeks left. The rf xmas party is coming up, dammit!! Gregory Joseph, give me at least 4 months, ok?
