View Full Version : I lost my friend tonight

I just got in from the vet's office a little while ago. My dog, Annie, was hit by a car tonight in the snowstorm while I was walking her.
I rushed her to my vet's office but he said that her back was broken and she would have to be put down. I did what he said but it did not make it any easier. I had her for many years and she was like my kid. I just don't know what to say anymore!

Reeshy, I wish I had some words that made you feel better, but you and I both know that's not possible. I feel absolutely awful for you. I've lost 3 dogs in my lifetime, and I cried like a baby when each one went. They're like family, it's true.
Hang in there, my thoughts are with you.

Reeshy, I have two dogs of my own and I know what it's like to love them so much that you consider them human. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, if you need to talk at all I am here.

Sorry to hear about your loss... Somehow, just by reading the title of your post, I knew it was a pet that you lost.
I feel very bad for you and I get a little choked up because I know how you feel... I'm going to have to be put in an mental institution when my dog dies.
Again, very sorry.

Losing a beloved pet is tough. My mother had our dog put to sleep while I was at school and didn't tell me it was going to happen. I hated that I never had a chance to say goodbye. Hang in there and mend.

Man thats tough. They are trully a part of the family. When my dog got loose from and was killed by a car. I swore I could still hear his nails clicking along while he walking the house beat. He used to check on everyone during the night. He would go room to room and make sure everyone was ok. Loved that darn dog.
Remember the good ,reeshy. It helps
Where do I come up with this crap?

I am sooo soo very sorry about your loss. My dog was very special to me, and when he deid i got a tattoo over my heart with his name on it with a little halo., Its dumb but it makes me feel like I did a memorial to him.
anyway, I know its kinda sappy, but someone gave me this card and I felt a little better...
Dear God,
My pet was so special.
The death of this beautiful animal has left me depressed.
Please help me bridge this paralyzing time with memories of joy we shared.
Let me always focus on the delight my pet gave me.
May his memories never be replaced.

They heard the hum of our motors, and counted the rotors. They waited for us to arrive.
Yet we would all go down together!

I am sorry Reeshy...
I have had two cats for the past 7 1/2 years and I could not imagine what it would be like not having them around...
But if you think of it this way.... She is in pet heaven with my pet gerbil(Gerbie) and my pet Newt(Newtie)...
They will have fun together up there...I hear Gerbils and Doggies get along well.

So very sorry to hear that.. A pet is a memeber of your family and a great friend.. Sorry buddy. Just keep your head up and remember the fun you had together...

I am sincerely sorry about the loss of your dog Annie. They truly become a big part of your life and it's devastating losing a family member. Reeshy I cannot say it enough when I say my heart goes out to you. These past few months have been trying time for you. All I can say is Annie is in a better place, an eternal snow playland. She is much better off than to be suffering. It's definately good to dwell on the happy times. Hang in there honey.

Reeshy, I don't know you, but I still want you to know how sorry I am for your loss. Our pets ARE often like our kids. If she meant that much to you, then I'm sure you were wonderful to her.
I think, therefore I am..............a moron.

hey...i don't know you...so this seems like a random post...but i know what you are going thru having lost a beloved pet myself...and please don't feel guilty, because life isn't kind enough to give us "if only's"...just know that your beloved annie is never gone when you can call up all the wonderful memories that you shared together in your mind...i believe in a pet afterlife where we can be with the creatures that actually meant the most to us...please take care

I thought of one almost positive thing about this... At least it wasn't a long drawn out illness. You didn't have to worry all the time. But you had enough time to say goodbye.
