View Full Version : I never thought I would enjoy being on the wagon

I have not touched a drop of alcohol in 3 weeks. Life has been getting better and better without the craving for alcohol.
I lost 10 pounds
My memory has improved
I have a lot more energy
I have saved a few hundred bucks
I am feeling extremely motivated
I am NOT tired at all
Is anybody else on the wagon out there? I know Gvac has been on the wagon for months and he was a sort of inspiration for me.
I am not sure what I wanted to say with this post.
It just feels great to be sober. Anybody want to tell their story?
Now I just need to quit huffing and cutting! Damn!

They heard the hum of our motors, and counted the rotors. They waited for us to arrive.
Yet we would all go down together!

i haven't had a drink in about a week... it was just getting to be too much. although it hasn't been very long, i have felt better during the past week than i have in a while. this isn't to say that i'm never going to have a drink again, but going out drinking a few nights a week is just not cool anymore.
i'm proud of us

I could stand to lose a few pounds, get more sleep, and feel better in general. So if that's working for the Rooster, I'm in for trying it for a bit. So there, it's in writing for all the public to see.
I, Skidmark, hereby declare, I will be dry for the next 30 days. Maybe longer.
Now I have to go pour my last can of Schaefer down the sink.
Yeah, I know it's cheap swill, but I love the stuff. It's the one beer to have when you're having more than one. And trust me, I was having more than one.

GOOD GOING ROOSTER!!! Life is too short to destroy the quality of it by drinking.
Keep the faith!!!

Its kinda of a good feeling, Im not really on the wagon , however I have slowed down my drinking on weekends alot, but thats only cause I have a wonderfull GF to spend time with, and Im not going out to the bars and pissing away money. Most of all I enjoy not waking up with a hangover on sundays!

i'm proud of us
Me too!
I was drinking way to hard after Sept. 11, and I decided that after New Years I would stop drinking for two months.
Skidmark, I truly believe that setting a tangible goal for yourself, like 30 days, will work out great.
I was a little edgy for the first week, but since then I have felt better and better.
We'll see how I feel on March 1. I may just decide to kick alcohol permanently.
Thanks for all the feedback.
If anybody wants to ride the Rooster wagon...just let me know....
...We can play cowboys and indians, drink diet soda and huff glue...have a real hoe down!! Yeeee-haaaaw!

My current stay on the wagon (11 weeks as of this writing) is my longest ever. In the past I had regularly given up drinking for a month every year just to make sure I could do it, and to confirm to myself that I wasn't becoming a booze bag. I tend to party on the heavy side.
Sometimes I miss it, but it's been a whole lot easier than I would've thought possible. Glad to hear you're doing so well, Rooster, and if you want to pound Caffeine Free Diet Coke one night together, be warned...I've become quite gluttonous in my appetite for it as of late!
