i was just wondering if there were any other nick drake fans out there... he was just so amazingly talented. and it's unbelievable to think of what he was able to accomplish in his short life, especially considering his problems. there are certain songs of his (saturday sun, way to blue, things behind the sun, parasite, ...) that i just cannot listen to without crying.

wondering if others find the pink moon vw commercial as much of a travesty as i do.
wondering if others thought of poor nick rolling over in his grave when place to be was in played in the background of some insipid conversation between two too attractive teenagers with overly developed vocabularies on that awful dawsons creek spin-off.
wondering if anyone was lucky enough to have seen one of his very rare live performances back in the day

To be honest with you, I would have never bought the "Pink Moon" CD if it wasn't for that VW commercial. I had heard of Nick Drake but never pulled the trigger on buying any of his music until viewing that commercial, which I felt was a good one.

His story is incredibly sad, but his music moves you.

i mean, as far as car commercials go, i guess it's one of the less harmless ones. but i can imagine that he wouldn't be any too pleased to know his song was in there, all the same. and it also makes me start thinking of how different things might have gone for him had he had the same kind of success when he was alive...
