There have been a lot of league specific threads and one off questions on players, so let's make this the one stop thread for fantasy football discussions.
I'll start by asking a few questions:
1) Will Palmer be a steal this year?
2) Can Westbrook and LT be top round RBs at the big 30?
3) Will Wells, Brown or Moreno be able to match Forte, Slaton and Smith as rookie Rbs from 2008?

1: It all depends on his health
2: Westbrook prob more. he is more versatile
3: Wells has the best shot because of the 2 WR. They can never really play the run on D with those monsters.

Palmer will be a steal if he can stay healthy. It's a pretty big if. But if you can get him as the 10th QB or so selected, he has thrown 30 td's and over 4,000 yds in a season.
At this point, LaT is a mid to late 1st rounder, Westbrook is an early to mid 2nd rounder. I personally like LaT to have a bounce back year. Westbrook should be solid too, again if he stays healthy. But players hitting the wall at 30 is a pretty solid barometer of production in the league. In Tomlison's case, he's coming off a down year (for him). How many players with the amount of carries he's had actually increase their stats at this point in their career.
And no. No way. Brown will be a nice complimentary back this season, Moreno has a lot of competition but should do well when he gets a chance, and I hate Beanie. Last years rookie crop of RB's was a once a decade type of production.

I'd love to say LT will bounce back, but I think Turner's offense has about as much to do with his fall off as does his age. I expect to see an all out air attack with the likes of giant wrs and TEs, mixed with a TON of screens to LT and Sproles. Expect an attack much like the Raiders during their Super Bowl run, with a better QB and deeper passing routes. Less dink and dunk, more screens, slants, outs and bombs.

I think the rankings dropped both Westbrook and LT lower then they should be. LT was slowed by a toe injury all of last season. One that is now gone. (Why I am staying away from TO this year) and Westbrook wasnt completely healthy either. Both are still alot better then some of these guys ranked ahead of them.
Clinton Portis? Chris Johnson? Really? I dont see it.
Anyway, Im in one league that you get a point per reception as well as the regular scoring also. With the 7th pick I wound up with Westbrook, LT, Marion Barber and Willie Parker as my 4 RB's. I get to start 3.
Got another draft tomorrow night and one next Monday.

More questions...
Will Deangelo Williams be nearly as good as last year, or will Stewart take control/split his value?
Can Chad Johnson regain form and wideout 1 status? Palmer staying healthy is the biggest factor here, but so is TJ Housh leaving/replaced by Coles.
Lendale White and Shockey are both supposed to be in great shape this year, will it mean much for either of their value?

Sneaky picks:
QB - Palmer (will slip), Schaub (will get hurt but how bad?), Hasselbeck (should bounce back nicely, but no ground game again)
RB - White (in great shape), Bradshaw (Jacobs can't carry the load/stay healthy), Slaton (beefed up for 3 down work in future), Thomas (versatile back who stays healthy in NO), Wells (will be starter by week 4/5), Brown (i just don't think Addai will stay healthy and any back here can be gold)
WR - Colston (can be a steal in the NO vertical attack if healthy), Henry (TD machine and a Palmer favorite when healthy and Henry not suspended), Walter (up to Schaub again), Bennett (fellow vandy peep who will quickly be the #1 wr in chitown, but Forte and Olsen will hurt), Vincent Jackson (minus dui suspension looming, can break into elite ranks this year)
TE - Carlson (solid late last year set to be top 5 this year), Shockey (in awesome shape with top 5 qb throwing darts), Boss (another TE quickly filling wr holes on teams), Shaincoe (see Boss, although Harvin will help Farve soon enough), Celek (great hands and routes but not enough plays to go round here), Davis (breakout year? I'm not sold yet but could be a huge late pick if so), Finley (quickly taking over for Lee on passing downs with awesome hands and more experience in the Rogers air attack)
D - GB, SD and NYG should be better, but it really depends on your D scoring so I'll pass on this one.

OK, let's play a little game of predictions we can visit again at the end of the year.
Fantasy MVP -Aaron Rodgers
Fantasy Bust - TO...he's got a bad toe, and Trent Edwards throwing him the ball
Best Rookie Production - James Davis
Top QB - Aaron Rodgers
Top RB - Matt Forte, if only because he catches the ball too. If he didn't, I'd take the Jacobs/Bradshaw combo, because their line is so good, and they play the AFC West this year
Top WR - Fitty. I would take Megatron, but Detroit is awful
Top TE - Witten. Dark horse is Jermichael Finley
Top K - Eh....they're all the same
Top D - Same here...but if I had to choose, probably a team from the NFC East
AFC Champ - Pittsburgh
NFC Champ - Green Bay
SB Champ - Green Bay
I'm not sold on Beanie because it seems like he gets hurt ALL THE TIME (and i'm not a fan of Big 10 backs in general). If I draft Wells, i'm gonna have to draft Hightower as well (and Wells doesn't catch the ball), and I think the Jacobs/Bradshaw combo is MUCH better, because that's probably the best offensive line in football.

Hey! I didn't say that!
And yes, Wells B10/injury issues are a little iffy but I think he's fine.

I don't seem him scoring a ton of TD's because I think they'll go to Turner in the red zone (and to a lesser extent, Norwood). Not sure he can really stretch the field any longer either.

He'll be a top TE, but not as big as last year. In KC, he WAS the offense and was targeted about 160 times. With the likes of the smash mouth attack of Turner, screen play of Norwood and wr target of white he'll definitely see less throws. They've already said he's going to be used as a blocker more, and I believe them as they had the lowest use of a TE in terms of catches and yards last year. Sure some of that was due to the talent there, but a lot has to do with the approach. I'm sure they won't let a huge asset block all year, and they have to validate the use of the 5th round pick they used to get him. Overall, I expect around 75 catches for ~ 850 yards with 7 TDs.

Really solid except at WR. I hope ur in a ppr league, if not, it's even worse. I like Evans as ur #2, but you don't have a true #1. Anyone on the bench as a sleeper here? If not, I think that would be a good move trying to sure up the position with some flyers.

Thanks. I agree, my WR are pretty weak. I have Donnie Avery and Mark Clayton on the bench though. I really like Donnie Avery.
No PPR.

I am afraid that I wasted a pick on a 3rd QB. Which one should I drop and then get a WR or TE from the ww ? Advice?
Is it a 1QB / 2 RB / 2 WR / 1 TE / 1 K / 1 DEF League?
If so, I love your WR, I'm really jealous, but I'm not crazy about your RB depth.

This is my non-keeper, money league. I draft 8 out of 10 teams. I also think its the only league that I wasn't able to land Jay Cutler as my backup QB. And I stupidly took Shockey as my backup TE, not realizing he has the same bye week as Gates.
Aaron Rodgers
Dwayne Bowe
Donnie Avery
Vincent Jackson
Steve Slaton
Brandon Jacobs
Antonio Gates
Earl Bennett
LenDale White
Trent Edwards
Percy Harvin
Jeremy Shockey
Darrius Heyward-Bey
Mason Crosby

I think it's offical, the rf.net community is lacking in wideout strength. If anything, this points out eh lack of depth at the position this year until new faces emerge. Still, I like the upside for Bennett, but Bowe is top tier if Cassels can make it happen in KC. Overall, not a bad team though.

I draft tomorrow, so I'll try too. The RB pool is deep so after getting a top back I may look to top tier QB or WR help. This makes me look at WR more and more.

I'll probably be forced to out of necessity. I've got the #2 pick in a 12-team league. Picks 23 & 26 might good spots for a wideout.
Who do I take at #2?

The problem is most leagues RB is most important stat position by far. My first two picks were 2 and 22, turner and brown.

Only doing one team this year (besides a salary cap league) and here it is:
QB - Warner, Roethlisberger, Flacco
RB - Michael Turner, Ronnie Brown, Le'Ron McClain, Jonathan Stewart, Jamaal Charles
WR - Houshmandzadeh, Braylon Edwards, Chris Henry
TE - John Carlson, Bo Scaife
D - Minnesota, San Diego
K - Stephen Gostkowski
I think its the best I've ever drafted. This is a $20 buy in league. Anyone in big money leagues?

WRs don't seem to put up many points in many leagues I'm in, so they're usually down the line of picks. I always draft Vincent Jackson, just hoping he'll finally turn into the WR he should be (I'm always disappointed). Also, Avery has a chance to really break out. And I think I drafted Bennett in every non-keeper league I'm in.
I had the #1 pick in one league (12 teams), and this is what I ended up with :
Peyton Manning
Anquan Boldin
Vincent Jackson
Adrian Peterson
Donald Brown

Anthony Gonzalez
Matt Cassel

Nate Kaeding
Mario Williams

My actual decent money league I'm in is a keeper league, and my football team was so awesome when I took it over like 3 years ago. I had Pacman Jones, Mike Vick, Sean Taylor, Plaxico Burress, and I'm sure other cursed players on it. That team sucks now.

Who knows. I just took him as my backup. If he has a huge year, then I have him and Manning. If not, I only have to use him one week.
There were a LOT of QBs I saw in drafts go really far down that were surprising. Tony Romo fell so far. Cassell was sometimes never drafted, Cutler was left for almost last for starting QBs. Aaron Rodgers got ignored a lot, too. Even Peyton Manning was falling, like he's suddenly going to be terrible this year.

The winner in the league i run brings in almost a 1k, but it's not what I'd call big money. The total fee (based on moves and trades comes out to about 150 each (12 players usually). Winner takes 50% in it, and we pay out 4 spots.
As for Ryan, I think he'll actually put up a better year as a soph. Turner and White both have a good year under their belt, Norwood is a great change off pace, and the addition of Gonzo can only help. Another factor is how the coaching staff will also have a year under it's belt and know how to utilize their weapons better. I like Atlanta a lot on O, D isn't that solid though.

How do you keep everyone interested long enough to keep the money rolling in on moves? Every league I've been in usually has a couple run away leaders and the rest of the people just fade to the back and lose interest.
Even if everyone in the league is extremely competitive initially, a couple of bad weeks and you are so far behind that you really don't have a chance of catching up.

Yah, I'd look to move one for an upgrade at wideout.
I think its "solid". Not overly great, but just "solid". We start 3 WR/TE a week (although we can start up to 4 and 1 RB), so I'm just counting on the production from my RBs and QBs to carry me. The way the draft worked out, I had the 10th pick (in a 12 team league); I took Brees with the first pick, then took Jacobs with the 2d and Colston with the 3d. Rodgers was STILL THERE in the 4th round...I couldn't leave him on the board.
Both those QBs are such huge scorers that i'm afraid of dealing one of them to someone else, and then having them beat me with them. Its more of a "keeping them from other people" thing (I had to draft Pennington with one of my extra player picks because I stupidly didn't look at the bye weeks to see that NO and GB have the same bye).

In a scenario where you have the #2 overall and assuming A Peterson is #1. Turner, MJD or DeAngelo Williams?
Exactly. Except I HATE the thought of Turner or Williams.
So I've reduced it to Jones-Drew or Forte.
If your league is PPR then MJD has a slight advantage over Forte. Cutler not so big on pass attempts to RBs in Denver. Also MJD had the best success rate last year from a goal line situation. Running Backs with at least 5 or more carries from the 1 or 2 yd line last lear MJD was 8 TDs in 9 attempts while Forte was 3TDs in 9 attempts. Turner was 8 for 13. D William was 6 for 7 inside the 2.
Also I know last year don't mean nothing but this years schedule difficulty based on last year's records are
Easiest: Chicago opp win % .414
Atlanta : 29th with and opp. win % of .588
That's another reason to like Forte ahead of Turner

If it's PPR, Forte gets more value, not MJD. Forte tied for the lead in receptions for an RB last year, even though MJD was only one down (Forte 11th in rushing vs. MJD 32nd). My point here is Forte had Grossman throwing to him, he was a rookie and wasn't used as much earlier, and now has Cutler ready to dump it off to him and Olsen due to lack of wideout depth. I feel that Garrard isn't as adept at moving teams into scoring position, even if Cutler does make dumb mistakes that he won't. The addition of diabetes boy will surely open up the holes more for Forte who will have a full year under his belt. Sure as shit I could be wrong, but I would take Forte over MJD right now.

Try Cotch and the lesser other wr in your mind first. If he turns it down, it allows you to "sweeten" the pot.

thats what im thinking, halfway through my post i forgot i had Cotch sitting on my bench too. I'll prob. offer Cotch and Welker.
Your right it is a crap shoot. They (Bears) did look pretty good the little I have seen of them this year. Just when you think you have it figured out someone comes along and blows up your theories. Now I am looking at Forte. The schedule is the easiest in the NFL, but they (Bears) finish with GB @BAL and MINN as the wk 14 15 16. Anyone think Marshall will be traded in the end in that Denver situation or is he stuck on that shithole team? I'd LOVE for him to go to a good team in the NFC with a good QB now.

Pending on how each league scores, your weakness seems to be at QB. I think Ryan will win, but not put up huge fantasy numbers. He and Ben win/manage games, but Ryan does have the potential to jump with the addition of Gonzo.

Basic scoring system. League one gives you PPR, in League 2 Defense is important and could get you negative points if bad.
I never put a high value on QB's after the first 2 or 3. My backups are guys like Favre and Quinn. I put higher priority or RB's and WR's.

Oh I agree, it's the position to let slip if any. Hell, last year I won with fucking Favre! This year I had lots of sneak picks that I knew would be available so I went early for me with the QB selection, and the other top QBs were moving. Hence I ended up with Rodgers in the tail end of the third round. He simply had more upside than a whole mess of mid-level WRs and RBs.

I also wouldn't reach for a TE this year either. There are a ton of good ones that you can get as the 8-12th drafted TE. I think I have Celek or Shiancoe on all of my teams. I'll take the extra depth at RB/WR and let someone else have Gates/Witten.

First on Henry, expect tds and big plays, but not every week. He'll go double digit tds if both Palmer stays on the field and he himself stays out of trouble. He'll be a pretty good sleeper wideout, but the trade would hinge on what was offered in my mind. Henry is a classic big risk/big reward player. I wanted him in my TD only league, not sure if the yardage and receptions will add up bc he's still only the #3. Yet when the #4 with Palmer he put up good TD numbers and average rec/yards when Palmer is rolling.
Benson is almost on the same page as Henry and the rest of the Cincy O, it all hinges on Palmer. However, if I were you I'd be looking for more RB help as you even noted the likes of fragile back Parker and Portis. If the Cincy O is led by Palmer, it will score. Yet both Leonard and DD Dorsey will take carries here as Cincy like most teams will eventually employ an rb by committee approach.

Should I start Roethlisberger tonight vs. the Titans or Kurt Warner on Sunday vs. the Niners?
I thought Warner was the obvious start, but he had a poor preseason and is old. Roethlisberger threw for 300 yards and 2 TDs last year vs. the Titans.
I guess I should have thought about this earlier than 1 hour from kickoff.

Warner. He's a percision/rhythm passer who needs crisp clean routes. The preseason is just that, but I do expect a decent fall off for him, his stats and his team this year. Still, Roth is in a weird place right now and coming off a SB win to face a team that plays decent D versus the comparison for the Niners.

I agree with Warner falling off. I would go as far as to say he might even struggle and only play about 12 games due to getting nicked up. He really hasn't played two full consecutive seasons without an injury. In 1999 He lights it up he misses 5 games in 2000. IN 2001 he lights it up for 4800 yds and follows that with 7 games in 02 and 2 games in 03. His 1 yr with the Giants 2004 he started only 9 games and was injured and horrible. Played in 14 in 07 and we know about the 16 starts for 4500 yds in 2008. I say 12 games for 2800 yds and 15 TDs.
I have Ben in one of my leagues and was hesitant starting him last night, he had a good night but I dont expect 350 yds out of him every week either.

There are ALWAYS decent WRs available if you dig deep enough. And my league only has 2 wr spots and 3 bench so this means only 24 starting wrs and usually 1 on everyone's bench. That means ~36 WRs taken, leaving a TON of #2's remaining. It really is quite simple.

Oh well then it makes sense. In all the leagues Im in each team can get at least 5 WR's (2 starters, 3 bench) so the number 2 receiver on a team that has a Top 3 offense in the league wasnt going to be found on the waiver wire.
This year there is a definite drop in production and value once you get past the top 15 WRs. that is why in some of these leagues that have 3 WR and a Flex player the talent pool was diluted rather early. I used to draft RB RB right out of the gate no matter what the draft position, now it seems it feels like that's the way to go with receivers. Most teams RB by committee so the days of the stud RB, once you get past the top 5, are all but gone, The consistent point production will come from WR and QBs this year and for the next few going forward.

Exactly why I got one of those top 5 RBs and went wr in the second round. I then took two more WRs after grabbing Rodgers at the QB slot. Knowing nobody was big on my TE I had all but locked in on, Carlson, I was able to wait until REALLY late at this position. Hell, Finley will be a steal in about 3 more weeks in GB as well, so TEs to me were actually deep too. I felt it was key to get a top RB/WR combo, with one of the big 4 at QB (not Warner). I truly think Leinart will start by the end of the year as Warner HAS to drop off this year and or get injured as per his normal routine. We'll see, as week one backed me up, but one week a season doesn't make.
As soon as GB fixes the right tackle position, Finley will get freed up to run a lot more routes. That kid is a beast waiting to happen.

It sure would be nice to keep Rodgers upright and throwing multiple TDs every game. Lee is clearly a better blocker too, so this hits Finley in multiple ways right now.

From what I read, Allen Barbre will start again this week against the Bengals. If he shits the bed again, they'll consider moving T.J. Lang to right tackle...which would be a definite upgrade at this point.
That would free Finley to get out into routes...which would be a very positive development for Rodgers' FF owners.

Two questions:
Flacco or Rivers? (They play each other.)
As a #3 WR, Bernard Berrian or Justin Gage? (I got burned by this last week, with Gage playing Thursday night and Berrian's status coming to light on Friday... Gage was already left on the bench, and I took a 0 from Berrian - I wound up losing by 15 points, and Gage would have given me 16.5.)

I EASILY go Rivers bc he's not only straight up better overall and fantasy wise, but bc his running game took a hit and they'll be using a short passing game to supplement the lack of run. Both LT and THREE starting OL are injured, with only the LT said ready to play (McNeil). Both the RG (Vasquez) and C (Hardwick) are out, and bc of this, Mruczkowski moves from backup RG to Center and the third RG comes in or better know as, Free Agent pickup of the week formerly from Jacksonville. Dennis Norman is a natural center, yet it'll take some time to get the playbook down. I'm not sure if he'll go right to center, but I doubt it. I expect him to be in at RG if at all, but if Hardwick's ankle is worse than they say, I'd expect Mruczkowski to be back at RG and Norman at C in a few weeks. LT is claiming to be decent, but I doubt they'll risk much there. Expect lots of screens and outside runs to Bennett and Sproles.
On a side note, the Chargers waived their only young RB and recent 4th rounder out of Col state to pick up the much needed OL and DL help. However they intended it to go down, it didn't work, bc that guy was NOT going to clear waivers and end up on the practice squad. Congrats Giant fans, you just got ANOTHER good RB who loves to pound the ball. For a rookie, he ran REALLY well in the preseason and is a VERY aggressive runner. I'm not so sure this was a good move at all.
Finally, I'd go Gage in the WR department. I just don't trust injury issues and going against Houston is a gem.

In flex situations I usually go RB as long as you know he'll get his carries. Any wr can smoke you, but I expect Palmer to play much better this week and keep his team close to a good GB team. Don't underestimate that Cincy D, it's really pretty good. However, GB can score on anyone.

It's really a tough call to start Slaton or Forte this week, both up against great run defenses coming off of subpar weeks. You usually have to play your best players, but if you are deep enough, sometimes you have to make a tough sit.

you woulda lost to the guy in our league who has chris johnson too. He put up 169. Also thanks to him having Gore too
my starting RBs put up a whopping 10 points combined but i still pulled the victory off because of Brew Brees and awesome Steve Smith (Giants) who kevin cut like 3 days before that game

Look at who has the hot streak.
And what team they are playing.
I got Flaco for Pennington off waivers 1 week before he went down.
Played him over Brady. Will do same this w/e.
I don't remember this time wait for waivers at game time. (3 days)?
To get players even if they didn't start that day. (yahoo).
Don't like it much. But free stat tracker is nice.

The Roth vs Flacco arg is a good one this year. The last time Roth had a good fantasy stat year was when his running game was off after they won the super bowl, which is exactly what is happening now. As a team they were off, but his stats were solid. They have the receiving core, but Holmes is off of late.
Flacco and the Ravens O has done nothing but pick up after losing their "offensive genius" coach of old. Ha! I like the way they moved the ball thus far, and seemingly lean this way right now.

He had 53 that week. The next week, I put up 125 and lost to someone that had Manning and Jones -Drew. They put up 178. 2nd week in a row I was second highest scorer and lost. Im 1-2 in that league, and 3-0 in my other 2 leagues.

No I would not say so.
It is a tuff choice. S.D. played well last week vs S.F. who's defense is said to be good.(W26-7).
However in the past when Cinci vs the Browns have played it could lead to high scores. Kinda an interstate battle thing.
I would look for injuries/who's starting & base it on that.

RB: pick one
Jones @ NO
White @ Jax
Brown vs Seattle
Jax run D is pretty poor. White will get some touches (goalline), but Johnson is the man there. New Orleans D is not to be trifled with, NYJ could get behind early to Brees and Co. and abandon the run. Seattle's run D is not that bad, save for two long runs to Gore they have bottled up opponents running backs to a degree, plus Addai is your starter there.
Tennessee HAS to win this game so I imagine they will work early to establish tempo by runrunrun. I do not see them designing a game plan to win it on Collins arm.

Whites name jumped up first for me.
However looking at notes.
He is listed in Injuries list as is Jones.
NO def stats look well. Also Ten and Jax have played bad as of late.
Brown is said to now split time in backfield.
And Sea is banged up. So Ind. could roll over Sea. Which would lead to many carries for both backs.
Brown is my pick.

Just a few thoughts on the show's league. You don't need to know anything bout football to play. Someone like mooch could easily get espn's ff daily podcast and succceed by following their pretty simple instructions to improve a team. Guys get way too into having "their" team's guys on their fantasy team(Dave ) and that always screws them. Fez has no interest in this. Quite obvious when you're starting someone on a bye.

A guy in my league has Larry Fitz on the trading block, looking for a RB in return. I'd like to get my hands on him. My starting receivers are Andre Johnson and Roy Williams, who sat out of practice today due to his banged up ribs. I have Ray Rice, Kevin Smith and Pierre Thomas to offer in exchange. Should I try to make a deal for Fitzgerald?

I'd like to do a one for one. I also have some depth at TE with Gonzalez and Davis, and at QB with Flacco and Rivers, so I could sweeten the pot there if I have to.

who's putting up the least points for you? you gotta start low if you want him (never offer your best deal first), then work towards your best ideal package that wouldnt terribly hurt you as your final offer in negotiations.

I'm in the same boat could use a wr.
They are thin in my league.
Was thinking of offering a same kind of trade.
Using Ricky Williams, but not sure I could get back a good wr.
Btw the back that got 250 something yards and 2 tds for Stealers last game .
Was on waivers, and could be for your league as well.
I dropped my lowest wr for him.
Yes I would try for a deal Servo.

I picked up Mendenhall and started him in 2 of my 3 leagues. 4-0 in both. Now with byes and waivers though Im fucking hurting.
In one league I need to find a RB free agent thatll do anything. Problem is the highest rated one is Heath Evans.....if thats not bad enough hes on a bye this week too.

The way I see it by scoring more the other team will have to try to play catch up. And Ints. will roll in & maybe Tds as well.

There is not much worth getting unless you can trade.
A few good all-around backs are Donald Brown and Tim Hightower however he only has 1 td and tends to fumble at times.
