Good policy, BOA. (http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/tampa-man-with-no-arms-gets-apology-from-bank-but-wants-more/1033181)

Seriously? Is this some sort of threat to security? Is the ADA absolutely worthless?

I don't see why this has to make local and even national news, when the teller told him about the policy he should have spoken to the manager and not gone to the next best news station in fake outrage.
Sure they needs some adjustment to their policies regarding certain disabilities... but it's not news worthy to me.

Since when do you need a fingerprint to cash a damn check?

Certain banks require it now, I think wachovia is one.

He already has fake arms, I doubt he has fake outrage as well.

ha I know, we are so cold... but seriously, it was his wife's bank and I doubt it was the first time he went there. So if this was a new policy (and I applaud this policy in some ways because it was BOA that cashed a boat load of forged checks from my account without ever even comparing signatures... and cashed even more from my ex FIL's account just cause his son was the one cashing, and forging them and had the same name, but clearly 40 some years younger than the actual account holder) then this was the first time he ran into the problem. There are still other ways to handle the situation than going to the next news station. That's just my opinion. The fake outrage does not necesarily come from him but the media and it annoys me that stories like this get national attention.
He also could have deposited the money into his personal account at his bank. And the way I read it it says he is not interested in the media attention, but how did this incident cross the bank's doorsteps and become subject to public media outlets??? "He was a guest on radio personality Todd "MJ" Schnitt's show, then interviewed on a Chicago radio show. That's after making appearances on local NBC, Fox and CBS news shows."

Well I am glad the Banks are taking more serious security measures these days and yes, at the same time they obviously need to revise the policies to match all possible needs for disabled, but ultimately it makes me feel safer about my money at the bank.

my brother was buying a car, we drove 300 miles away and once he saw the car he needed to take out money.

We drove 40 miles to the nearest HSBC, and he provided them with a check for cash, for $12,800. He also handed them ss card, nys drivers license, and a us passport for ID, as instructed by his local HSBC when he told him what he was doing.

Well the woman behind the counter said, "these signatures dont look exactly the same from the one on file." Well the one on file was from 12 years ago when he got the account when he was 12. He tried a few more times, and she then informed him, HE could not take his money out.

We asked for the Bank manager, and the teller informed us that he would say the same thing, I then chastized her and told her, "I guess your $8hr teller job makes you a handwriting expert too", I said, "you must moonlight as a handwriting expert for court cases". and made some twinkie comments about her. She got pissed, told us to leave, we demanded the manager....

Manager looks at all the documents, as well as the 12yo signature on file, he goes, "he has 3 forms of ID, bank card and 4 credit cards, whats the problem get him the money"

She proceeded to take 30 minutes to count out the cash, and then another 15 printing out and filling out the form needed when a customer takes out more than 10k. She then counts out the money REALLY loud, ONE THOUSAND, TWO THOUSAND!.....etc.

We continued to bait her until we left. He then called HSBC's corparate headquarters and informed them of the rude teller and her name, they sent him a voucher for $100 prepaid card a few weeks later with an apoligy letter from the teller.

I hate banks.
