Last night I received a text message claiming my credit card had been blocked and to call this number for info. The text came from 8669425647@ncua.gov and it asked me to call 1-866-942-5647.

I did not call them but since I never heard of ncua I looked them and this number up and found very little info... the number is not listed anywhere though.

I don't use credit cards so it clearly is a scam to get someone's personal info... anybody else gets texts like this?

I actually wonder where they got the number from, its not like I have it listed all over... maybe from job sites where my resume is posted?

I no longer list my phone number on resumes posted online.

I find it saves me sales calls in the long run. Also, my college's fundraising arm can't get some snotnosed kid to call me at 9pm on a work night while I'm trying to get ready for bed so they can ask me for money.

Yay, Liz is back
but on a serious note, the resume is not public really, it is only viewable to companies that pay for the service to see them... so I was hoping it would be a bit more secure. I get more sales calls at night on my land line and that is not supposed to be listed either, though I found out the other day that it is easily found... damn me for paying a non listing fee :(

seems the reports started right around the time when I got the text so it must be a new scam.
I checked it last night around 11 and no reports on it at all.

I never heard of anyone being so paranoid about their personal info being comprised
