Saw Raul Julia do it on Broadway. It was good. I'd probably see the screen version.
Paulo, Ron was saying the other day that Weinstein was in trouble and if Inglorious Basterds had failed, the company might have gone down. I don't know shit about the movie business, but if you're in that kind of financial situation, is green lighting a movie version of a Broadway play a good move or tremendously risky?

Was that Fergie?
It was. According to IMDB. And assuming her first name is Stacy.

That's very laudable in some ways, but also close minded

Audiences have shown an unwillingness in the past to accept or embrace DD-L as a hunky ladies man in titles like Mohicans, Age of Innocence and Crucible. In this one he's got like eight different chicks throwing themselves at him so the viewer resistence could be as pronounced as ever. Although the story's grounding as a musical ensures that it's going to tap into key demographics who will only care about the theatricality of the tunes and won't question his plausibility as a man who inspires female lust.

Daniel Day Lewis for Doctor Strange FTW
As far as 9 & Nine, I am really stoked to see it.
The Weinstein Company is in trouble, and late last week laid off 12 workers.

This film cements the fact that DD-L just doesn't work as a romantic lead. His talent as an actor is unquestioned, but after this, people might start wondering aloud about the true extent of his range. Not that the film would've been redeemed by having an actor with ravishing charm in the lead role. Him being wildly miscast is definitely fitting with the epic clusterfuck nature of the production.

I saw NINE a few days ago.
I, somewhat obviously, assumed that the title was in reference to nine other women but, only 7 women had storylines. I then assumed that he himself was number 8 and that the unfinished movie he was (not) directing was "nine".
Wrong again.
"Italia" would've been his 9th film. That is/was needlessly confusing. It's never addressed in the film.
Oh... and I didn't hate this movie as much as everyone else. I didn't love it but, overall... it was good. I give it points for being ambitious. And the 60ies-feel was authentic.
PS: fuck you, Nicole Kidman. You are terrible in everything.
