i don't care what side everyone is on
i myself am not a huge fan of obama
however no one should yell "you lie"

that is stuff that happened in the 1850's
like when Rep. Preston Brooks beat

shame on you Joe Wilson

I have to give a lot of credit (or "props" as the schwoogies say) to Joe Wilson. Someone needed to tell it like it is. Osama went and called out the GOP for being liars, so why not fire back when he stands up there spewing lies for nearly an hour? Needless to say, I'm going to be contributing to Rep. Wilson's campaign.
Rep. Joe Wilson's challenger in 2010 has raised over 50K in 3 hours on the internet via Act Blue alone.
Its amazing how the internet can mobilize nationwide support for a candidate.

He took out the number of illegal aliens in the estimated amount of people without insurance. That's why he said 30 million American citizens. The people complaining about this are either pissed that they missed out on a chance to scream "OH YOU ARE GOING TO COVER ILLEGAL ALIENS!" or they are the stupid death panel people who know nothing about this issue and just repeat what they hear from someone else.

The number of uninsured drops by 15 million whe you factor in households making more than 75K. It drops another 10 when you factor in illegals and another 10 when factoring in people on medicaid and other government provided care. These numbers come from the last census and the Heritage Foundation estimates the number of actual uninsured at 12M. Also according to the GAO Obama's cost projection was 2 TRILLION off.

When you say that a household that make 75k a year is choosing to not buy insurance, you are making it seem like 75k is a shitload of money and that they should be easily buying coverage. 75k for a household = 37.5k is the income for each person of the couple, not the mention how many children would need to be insured. Do you really think they can afford $1000 a month to buy health insurance on their own?

Rep Wilson was out of line. Period. AUSTIN — Once again, Texas has the nation's highest rate of people without health insurance.
Also Online
More than one of every four Texans – 25.1 percent – were uninsured in a two-year average ending last year, a Census Bureau report showed today. That's up from 24.1 percent for 2005 and 2006.
California still has the highest number – not percentage – of uninsured residents. It had 6.7 million uninsured people, compared with 5.9 million Texans in a three-year average ending last year. The Texas number is up from 5.7 million reported last year for 2005 to 2007.
New Mexico and Florida had the next-highest rates, with 23.1 percent and 20.1 percent of their populations, respectively, uninsured in 2006 and 2007.
Massachusetts and Hawaii came in at the bottom, with respective rates of 5.4 percent and 7.7 percent.

Health Insurance to Rise 94% by 2020 (http://www.commonwealthfund.org/Content/Publications/Data-Briefs/2009/Aug/Paying-the-Price-How-Health-Insurance-Premiums-Are-Eating-Up-Middle-Class-Incomes.aspx)
Here's the overview of a long scholarly article. I'm assuming you haven't been doing much bi-partisan research of your own. I could be wrong.
The rapid rise in health insurance premiums has severely strained U.S. families and employers in recent years. This analysis of federal data finds that if premiums for employer-sponsored insurance grow in each state at the projected national rate of increase, then the average premium for family coverage would rise from $12,298 (the 2008 average) to $23,842 by 2020—a 94 percent increase. However, if health system reforms were able to slow premium growth by 1 percentage point in all states, by 2020 employers and families together would save $2,571 per premium for family coverage, compared with projected trends. If growth could be slowed by 1.5 percentage points—a target recently agreed to by a major industry coalition—yearly savings would equal $3,759. The analysis presents state-by-state data on premium costs for 2003 and 2008, as well as projections, using various assumptions, for costs in 2015 and 2020.

A 2008 survey of chronically ill adults in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States found major differences in health care access, safety, and efficiency, with U.S. patients at particularly high risk of forgoing care because of costs and experiencing errors or inefficient, poorly organized care.
Of course it's different. None of those countries are major countries like the United States!

When Bush lied no one died, when Obama lied we were forced down a path of death panels and premature baby killings due to health care union strikes and low government standards for who gets treated.
But of course this is Obama we are talking about, savior of the MTV generation, and his words are gospel.

Pat Tillman had the option to serve in the Army and he picked that option. It was terrible what happened but he was not forced into it like we will be forced into Obamacare and how we will be forced to live under his rules of what can and cannot be treated by socialist healthcare. Bringing up a hero like Pat in a thread about the most anti-American renegade president in history is sickening.
People are yelling at Obama and speaking up in congress like never before because they know this is the most dangerous man to ever serve as president of the United States. They have sat quietly as others have come and gone before him but Obama has brought this country to it's knees to serve and worship him as a messiah. Unless more people stand up against this tyrant America will cease to exist.

No, your ridiculous statements are sickening. If Bush lied, our armed forces died because of it. Stating anything different is complete idiocy, even more so than your other bullshit.

If it's truly that low, it shouldn't cost that much to cover us all. Make it happen bc WMT made a GREAT point.

Bc the premiums are INSANE unless you work for a mid to large company with buying power and they choose to take their chances. I'm not saying this is everyone, but it surely is a lot of people out there w/o coverage who choose to do it. Basically, you can't just assume the reasons why.

I would agree that the office of the president should be respected but now that the office has been turned into a place to destroy all that America stands for no one should sit quietly by as Obama spews vile filth meant to undermine all those that oppose him.
This guy will most likely be killed by the secret police now that he has spoken out against the state, which is to be expected now that the USA is being run like North Korea or communist USSSR, but at least he had the guts to do it. Maybe he will become a martyr and more will follow.

It's interrupting the President, especially with such a proclaim of "You lie!", which turns out was wrong anyway, that is disrespectful.

If a democrat screamed out, "You lie!" at Bush circa 2002 during a presidential address to congress, what do you think would have happened to them?
Even if it happened in 2008, it would have been looked down on by the mainstream media. There are certain rules politicians must follow in the publics eye, and this is I think this is one of them.

Again it is totally relevant in discussing the climate in which Wilson is being persecuted by the media but a congressional leader calling ordinary citizens evil mongers gets a pass. Its typical and sad that the bar for liberal speak is set so low.
Reposting, in case you missed it...
No, you wouldn't. And please, Reid said the protesters at the meetings were "evil-mongers", who are using lies, innuendo and rumor to drown out rational debate.
Which they were.
What he should have said, was "stupid, evil mongers", which would be more accurate.
He said nothing derogatory about conservatives who attend town hall meetings, unless you are saying they're the same thing?

It was wrong for him to say that about the people who knew nothing about the people protesting but its a little worse that this guy interrupted a speech being given, if some of these people would have spoke up while bush was there we wouldnt be in Iraq still.
Still I agree that reid should have gotten a little more shit for his statements that eventually made a lot of dems ignore the protesters in their town halls, which ended up making them look stupid since quite a few of them were their supporters and not part of some conspiracy to take the bill down.
And furtherman, not all of them were evil mongers, there were doctors down here that were questioning one of the congresswomen and she basically told him to shut up about it and get back to the right. Turns out the guy voted for her and obama, not everyone is sold on that bill and the nutjobs are making some look worse.

Oh those two statements werent related, all politicians go for the money, its easy to pick on the lowest common denominator in the crowd.
It would have been more ballsy of him if he went after the doctors that were there initially protesting all the town hall meetings, but then it wouldnt have gotten him the best press and he would have had to defend himself against knowledgeable people. If you are going to pick on someone at a rally, you can usually bet that those comparing his plans to the nazis are the low hanging fruit.

Yes I agree, the problem is the media and most dems lumped all of them in that same category which is what happened when that doctor was trying to question his representative and it pissed him off.
Picking on low hanging fruit is not a challenge but the issues being brought up need to be addressed, I think there are quite a few things that need to be fixed but it wont happen quickly. I wish I could find the article where the writer pointed out that it took longer for obama to pick out a dog than he wanted to debate on this massive bill.

There's a certain amount of respect afforded the person currently speaking in parliamentary procedure and also a certain amount of respect above and beyond that for the President of the United States. While I agree those in attendance can make sounds, it's generally limited to guffaws, cheers and other sorts of non-verbal communication. Had Wilson simply jeered the President, as many people have done to many different people who had the floor, no one would have cared. Outright addressing the person who has the floor who is also the President is a travesty of democracy.
Whether Obama was really lying or not isn't the issue, its the fact that Wilson decided to play to the demagoguery and uncivilized by hollering out like a kid who decided to interject himself from the kids table during Thanksgiving. Had someone outright addressed Bush in the same manner I'd be equally as disgusted at the pathetic behavior. An act like that isn't part of civilized society, its part of hooligans and scum.

Tensions are running so high at town hall meetings that Rep. David Scott, a Georgia Democrat, yelled at a local doctor concerned about health care after mistaking him for an "astroturf" political operative looking for a fight.
It was a mistake. So that means "the media and most dems lumped all of them in that same category" ?

They have been told to confront people if they are at the meetings, this congressman's district is predominately black so he thought he was in the clear which is why hes been pretty quiet on the matter and still wont talk about the incident. And yes the dems, just like you lump all the protesters into the same "must be a dumb-witted rubes" well he was protesting and I seriously doubt he is in that category, my uncle wouldnt fall into that category as well and he went to a rally to speak to his representatives in florida, who has been a doctor and surgeon for the past 20 years down there.
There are a few people that act like idiots but a vast majority of them are concerned citizens worried about how this is going to affect them long term, lets not act like this health plan can be thrown together and fix everything in 10 months though.
Does health care need to be addressed? Yes. Does this plan fix the issues? Most likely not according to doctors.
Im all for fixing health care issues but at what cost? Should we tax the upper class to the middle class to pay for it? ;

Democratic leaders are planning a House vote early next week on whether to admonish Republican Rep. Joe Wilson if he does not apologize on the House floor for yelling "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's health care address.
Brendan Daly, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, said Friday that party leaders decided they will likely move forward with a resolution of disapproval against Wilson if he doesn't apologize to Congress.
Wilson told Obama he was sorry shortly after the incident on Wednesday, but has refused requests to apologize on the House floor. Wilson's office says the congressman considers his initial apology sufficient. He has also been telling supporters he will continue to speak loudly about the issue and "not be muzzled."
Obama said Thursday he accepted Wilson's apology, telling reporters that "we all make mistakes." The White House said it considered the incident over, and Pelosi, D-Calif., initially agreed, saying she wanted to focus on moving health care legislation forward.
