I cant not belive it has been 8 years since that tragic day. I just wanted to say thanks to Ron and Fez for what they did to help us during those times. They gave us a fourm to vent and tell others how we felt. They also let me go on the air and make requests for what was needed at ground zero. That allowed me and 100s of volounteers to make trips to deliver food, drinks and notes of hope and encouragment to the heros working down there. Thanks budddies

Ditto to everything you said Johnnie, but I'll also add a huge thanks to you.

I'll never forget your tireless efforts to keep the rescue workers going down at Ground Zero.

What an awful time in our lives, but thankfully some good sprang from it. We made some lifelong friends through our experiences and for a little while we all realized what was truly important in this life.

Much love to each and every member of this crazy Ron and Fez universe who helped me through such a horrific experience, and my heartfelt condolences go out to all who lost someone close to them on that day.

I'd just started listening to WNEW in 2001, following D&M on an undergroud feed.

I was somewhat surprised that they were still broadcasting live that afternoon.

I couldn't turn it off for days. I would get depressed when I couldn't be near a computer to listen.

All of the buddays at WNEW deserve a ton of credit for the way they handled their own, and the emotions of the callers that day.

The images and the stories on the national news were horrifying and frightening.

But listening to D&M, O&A and especially R&F and the evening callers was so humanizing, yet comforting at the same time.

While the rest of the outside world had to listen and watch and dwell on the tragedy, I had a chance to hear about the incredible efforts of volunteers like Johnny and others. It made me feel close to those that were directly affected, and wishing that I could do more to help.

While I could have been otherwise consumed by rage, hate and saddness, I had a chance to feel the love, strength, emotion and compassion of the great people of NYC & NJ.

Thank you Ron and Fez, the staff and producers at WNEW, and to all of the wonderful people who called, shared, helped, and comforted that day, and for the days that followed.

My husband was stuck in the city that day. I lost 3 cousins and my next door neighbor. I was home alone scared shitless. Thank God for O&A and RnF. They got me through the day and night. I felt so safe when my husband came home that next morning. Every once in awhile I listen to the RnF 9/11 show.

On a lighter note... I'd forgotten that this was back during Fez's "grunting" phase.

Ok, of all the things to be mad about...sorry for your loss, but mispronunciation is no reason to be sore.

I guess this is a place to ask this question...in the days following 9/11/2001 VH1 ran a constant loop of videos...they included U2 "Walk on"...Five for Fighting "Superman"...Train "Drops from Jupiter"...a Sting video where he was playing live and broke-down in the middle and stopped the music...and a few others...Would anyone know the all the videos VH1 showed in that special post 9/11/01 loop?? ..thanks

never forgive who?

Let's please keep the jokes out of this thread. I know this is a hard subject for a lot of people, even 8 years later, especially with a concentrated memberbase in NY.

does anyone one know if they are going to replay the 9/11/01 show?

R&F have never replayed the 9/11/01 show. It's also the only full show in the File Library (normally we avoid full shows for legal reasons).

9/11 was a long day, but the thing that got me thru it was listening to O&A and R&F on WNEW and talking to fellow WNEW fans at the time. It means alot when R&F revisit it every year and end with Walk On.

And for those members who didn't listen to R&F back then, please feel free to share your 9/11 memories with us here.

"I Want Love" by Elton John. This song always brings me right back to that week. I really like the video too.

It really was an incredible few weeks following 9/11. There was an overwhelming feeling of sadness and despair, but also an incredible closeness and kinship felt with everyone you saw on the street, at your job, in the bars, etc.

For a very brief period of time we really did all feel like brothers and sisters, regardless of race, creed, or color.

I posted this on the listening thread from today.....

The thing I remember most 8 years ago was the fear. The idea that 4 different planes crashed into building and crashed into fields just freaked me out. The idea that at any moment during that time a plane could be just smashing down into the building I was in or the street I was on. I was only in a 2 story building but still it was just crazy.

I don't know anyone who died that day. My Wife works across the street in the financial center. I could not reach her that morning. I was pretty confident that nothing happened to her. I knew she walked under the WTC from the train to her job. I think the point I sort of freaked was when the first tower fell. I heard it on the radio, so i could not see it actually happen. But when the first tower fell, all I could picture was it toppling right over, not like it did straight down. So when I hear that I started to worry. Friends and family were calling me to see if they got in touch with her. Which sort of made me freak a little more. Everyone was on their cell phones and so no service. After about 2 hours I finally spoke with her and she was fine. Remember when I first saw her after that...picked her up on 4th ave. in Brooklyn. Stopped my car in the middle of the street to hung her.

So I guess I am grateful that I don't know anyone who died, but I will always remember the fear. No matter where you are in the country or even the world, that fear affects you.

Also like that R&F still play walk on...Ron is right that song is so perfect for 9/11

We had our annual service in town today. Despite the foul weather, the turnout was great.

I was there helping to support Troop 139. The boys did an amazing job.
Handing out flags to the people who entered the service.
Filing in with the Marines, Veterans, Police and Firefighters. (I think Sean now understands the importance of his uniform and the role scouts perform in the community)

At the end of the service all the participants lit candles and proceeded to the memorial. The Boy Scouts took those candles from the people and laid them around the memorial.
They all felt proud to be a part of such an event. I was proud to witness it.

Politics and other bullshit like it ruined that...God it was a wonderful feeling to be so together.

When I woke up that morning, it was like any other. I was watching close to the T.V. to find out the latest news on any presidential felating that may or may not have happend. It's a little after 9 a.m. and I'm flippin' throught the channels like I do. I stop on Good Morning America cause they have a picture of the World Trade Center on....."I was there" I remember thinking to myself..........Then......we know what happend. I yelled, while my loving wife and 4 year old daughter slept, "They did it, I can't believe they did it!" I ran into the bedroom where my family was, they were startled from when I yelled. "This is just like when Ruby shot Oswald, live on T.V." I remember going to work that day, and the sky.......it was totally empty...........I remember felling such, a deep sense of loss..........heartbreaking.
