If someone has already established this, then please put this where it belongs.

If not, we have the aging hippie and the sissy la-la's line of the day. why not one for the callers?

my vote for today's show was jeff from oregon, who said, and I paraphrase:

(regarding elton john attempting to adopt a aids baby from the ukraine and ben and jerry changing the name of a ice cream flavor to hubby hubby),

"eltons kid would have an ice cream cone shaped in shape form a penis, and have the kid with 2 hands on the piano and 2 lips on the organ, ha-ha-ha"

actually funnier when he said it then my reporting it. so what/ it was funny then.

(US OPEN TENNIS non sequitor alert, just wanted to say) fuck mary carillo. that hole should not be on tv. she insults del potro when playing poorly, "he moves like a tall guy"

she's so clever.......fuck you! you piece of shit hole.

then changes her comments when the guy starts playing better.

then she tries to somehow equate federer saying shit to what venus williams did 2 nights earlier. who gives a rats ass about either case?

amazing.......! athletes saying fuck.

her comments are dumb and she is a jane hathaway clone that should contract denghai fever. i hate this cunt.

what a piece of shit

You know that's just a variation on an old joke, right?

Today was possibly the worst Ron & Fez show ever as far as callers were concerned.

I thought the show was fantastic circa 2002. Ronnie B really put Fez in the spotlight. Set him up time after time and fez hit them out of the park. I really enjoyed the show today. No bullshit. Ronnie b"s sense of the absurd never ceases to please. The man us a genius for the absurd. Just radio gold. Really.

Ron & Fez were great. The callers sucked ass today.

was that because most of them skewed conservative? good ol boys? pro capitol punishment? because they commented on the air that they wanted to see a deranged maniac, (mohammed the sniper), who terrorized myself as well as my wife and kids and everyone in the DC area, (specifically the area where I lived at the time), die a painful death?

because he had us zigzagging to get gas and create a human wall to get our 1st graders to the buses without getting shot?

instead, let's put this mohammed in a cell for 20 years and let him out for good behavior, because we don't want to be like him. we want to afford him the chance to take out more innocent people when he is in his 70's.

or was it because the callers were animated in their desire for a pound of flesh for the guy who killed fathers of daughters and mothers and sisters of loved ones for no reason other than because in his twisted mind he was not afforded his due in a divorce case?

is that why the callers sucked?

or was it the call screener's fault for putting them through?

did he suck for putting them in the cue for mr b?

or was it mr b's fault because in your mind mr b didn't turn these folks into the humorless, narrow minded, pro death sentence folks into buffons? which i thought mr b did with great aplomb, when appropriate, by the way.

although i don't think the show is caller driven anymore, i for one enjoy hearing people from all over the usa and what they have to say. the show attracts a certain sophisticated, dark, witty demo that adds to the show. i didn't think todays callers were any worse than any other day. and fez was in fine form, thanks to mr b and his focus on letting fez shine.

a lot of times callers add a lot. hence the caller of the day idea. perhaps i am in the minority on this one. it doesn't matter anyway. the boys are now hyping the twitter site for all things RF related. it's unfortunate. this site is dying a slow death, and if i may say, it's ironic, because if they decided to go to another site because the posters here were negative, you, mikeyboy, are only adding to this by your comments that the callers sucked shit today. more negativity.

whatever. there must a money angle somewhere. its always about the money.

Most of the callers calling about the death penalty weren't calling about the DC sniper. They were calling with their ideas for "revenge" laws. And the ideas were ridiculous.

Then throw in a lot of the comedy pyramid callers who as others said didn't get the bit. Many just threw out the punchlines to old gay jokes without little to no attempt to tie the jokes to familiar ice cream flavors. Others called in doing gay jokes at fezzy and most were unfunny.

Listen to old NEW/JFK pyramids and you will hear how they are supposed to be.

i was one of those old /new callers. called almost every night . actually won many a prize if i may say. back then, the boys were not exactly pressed for time or callers, and you could actually have an extended give and take with ronnie b on all topics.

if you don't think ron b was coming down on a lot of callers yesterday because they were pro capital pinishment then you either have selective listening or are being disingenuous.

you can try to qualify it by referring to the yokel's knee jerk reaction to "revenge' laws, but i don't buy it for a second.

if ron b was on the supreme court, i bet you dollars to donuts mohammed gets his death sentence commuted.

speculation to be sure, but one could make this leap by just listening to his politics.

i must have tuned out before the fez gay bashing. a lot of those yokels may have called in because they were probably following ron b's lead. ron b's is the biggest gay basher of fez then anyone who calls into the show. of course many of us get it, the absurdity, but apparently some don't.

ron b kids because he loves, but a lot of the callers may not have this higher level of understanding and assume the worst.

the screen caller has his hands full i'm sure.

Who cares? We weren't talking about Ron's beliefs or how he treated the callers. We were talking about the callers not being very good. It has nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing. Certain topics bring out a visceral, emotional responses and tend to bring out the knee-jerk and not very intelligent reactions. Death penalty is one of them. I'm not saying all the calls were bad, but some of them downright sucked. Eli's right, some of the people with their dumb revenge laws weren't all that swift. Then they would throw out there bright idea (if you rape somebody, you should get raped), and had no ability to articulate any kind of intelligent follow up. I'm sure you'll dismiss this because I'm not politically on the same side of these callers, but I honestly don't have strong feelings on the death penalty.

And it wasn't just during the death penalty conversation. Even during the Kanye discussion, most of the callers had no point.

But you're right, Mikeyboy, it's not a matter of whether you agree or disagree with the callers. I could care less what end of the political spectrum you are if you can formulate a clever or valid point.

ron has the ability to make a dumb caller sound smart or a smart caller sound dumb. often times it's based on his political beliefs or for comedic purposes. i don't mean to sound like an RF expert. just a casual fan.

ronnie b can argue both sides of the fence better than f lee bailey, (geezer alert, f lee bailey.......i think he represented the boston strangler in '69. oh well, how about johnny cochran? even though he is dead. a little more contemporary. shit, who's around these days? gloria allred? fuck her).

ron b would have made a fabulous trial lawyer.

i do see what you are saying. it was your initial comment that all of the callers today should have shit in their faces, or something like that made me take issue. what can i say? i thought that wise ass from oregon was funny. it was more his delivery that the content of what he said, and his smarmy laugh at the end of the call. it was funny, and ronnie b's response was even funnier.

So let's throw out the entire group callers for yesterdays show. let's assume they were all idiots. perhaps yesterday was not the best day to try to intorduce CALLERS LOTD thread, where one caller gets the opportunity to get the nod for offering a funny comment.

Maybe it will actually encourage and stimulate the quality of calls. i wish i could change the caption to caller's LOTD. i fucked up. i wanted it to be like "RONS LOTD"

regardless, i know it won't be me. the few times i have tried, i can't even get on anymore. at least i was one of the first on xm when the boys arrived to use profanity, where i called in to respond to fez's pee shy problems and was able to say on the air, "come on her tits".
yes. i am very proud of that. and introducing the short lived, yet still profound, "right black at ya", yes i still hold onto this.

your points are well taken. let's move on.

shall we mikeyboy?

are you working to make this site numero uno again with the grand pubahs? what's their end game? why has this site been relegated to sub whack bag status? this is the place to be! i can't even say the name "twitter" without feeling like i am being anally raped, and this is now the #1 RF site? Nevah.

Ron & Fez were great. The callers sucked ass today.

The comedy pyramid wasn't THAT bad considering how out of practice (or incompetent) the callers are. I have listened to MANY comedy periods from WNEW and WJFK. Let me tell you something. Not all the comedy pyramids were great. They were largely dependent on the topic. And some of them were run into the ground worse than an O&A bit in the past. Rose colored glasses are going on there a bit. Don't get me wrong, many of them were brilliant. I'm trying to remember one that was particularly painful, but it's escaping me at the moment.

However one of my favorites was catchphrases for the new show (back then) "Hack" the crimefighting cabdriver. "He's double parked for triple homicide."

Anyway, I have to admit, much like Ron, I did laugh out loud when the one caller called in saying "Hey Ron I heard the new Ben and Jerry ice cream tastes like shit."

Simple, yes, old, yes, but the delivery was pretty damn good.

You're ornery.

He's just letting his inner anger out finally.

Let him have this, it will pass.

Just to make my point. I'm listening to a comedy period that they set up when we had the craze about changing French to Freedom. And the comedy pyramid consisted of changing random French stuff into Freedom. Yup, that was the whole bit.

Freedom Onion Soup.
Freedie from Grease.
Freedom kiss.

Yup, today's was definitely worse than that right? Why so uptight over some old corny gay jokes? At least people were more lively. I just didn't find it that offensive or harmful.

I thought it was way better than the same capital punishment debate that happens EVERY time it's brought up on the show. The same angry callers. The same "eye for an eye" guy. Geez I know it was painful that day, but it wasn't ALL bad.
