World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. said Wednesday McMahon has resigned as the company's chief executive to seek the Republican nomination for Dodd's Connecticut seat, providing a show-business twist to one of the nation's marquee Senate races.

McMahon, 60, launched her candidacy saying the five-term incumbent Dodd has "lost his way and our trust." Dodd plans to run for a sixth term next year and is seen as one of the most vulnerable Senate Democrats

I hope she doesn't question Dodd's "testicular fortitude". That will get him sympathy votes for sure.

I just hope she gets smoked fast so Vince can drop this stupid fucking pipe dream and go back to making wrestling the way it should be, instead of putting out the "made for Noggin" slop he does now. We get it, you wanted to show you run a family friendly show to get your wife a Congress job, now go back to making it good.

We're doomed to this nonsense for another generation at least. Vince isn't going to fix anything and even when he dies/retires it looks like Stephanie, not Shane, is getting the keys to the castle. And even if she does lift the PG rating, she's still a blithering idiot.

If Vince wants to put his wife in the cross-hairs of campaign ads like this:

"Linda McMahons family gives illegal drugs to workers and they DIE......"

I guess since I don't watch wrestling very much I didn't realize how much real life has come to resemble the WWE.

Blumenthal shoots self in dick by exaggerating military experience (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/19/nyregion/19veterans.html?hp)

Blumenthal is a stiff prig with close to zero likeability so the odds of his candidacy surviving this are pretty low. I'm not sure the Dems have anybody to step in so it looks like our budday Wrestlingfan will finally get some representation for his taxation with Senator Linda McMahon.

Blumenthal is a stiff prig with close to zero likeability so the odds of his candidacy surviving this are pretty low.

:glurps:

- In Hartford and in Washington, Mr. Blumenthal’s advocacy for veterans’ rights is unyielding. He has lobbied the General Assembly to grant unemployment benefits to the spouses of military personnel, and advocated for the creation of a Hispanic affairs advocate within the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs.

- In 2007, when he set up the veterans advocacy division of the attorney general’s office, he declared, “My office will fight for those who fought for us.”

In interviews, several veterans from around the state said the office had helped them penetrate the thick bureaucracy of the state’s benefits system, and applied a personal touch.

- “He’s a nice guy; he was cordial,” Mr. Kingman, 50, said from his home in Naugatuck. “Busy people like him, with all the rest going on in the state, I was surprised he’d have time for little old me.”

“I don’t know who he talked to, but next thing you know, I had a hearing,” said Mr. Kingman, who at the time was living on $200 a month and food stamps. “He stood up for me.”

- Cecelia Louis had a similar story: after five years trying to obtain health care from the Connecticut Veterans Affairs Department for her 78-year-old husband, a Korean War veteran, she reached out to the attorney general’s office, which resolved the issue in a matter of weeks.

“He realizes, especially now with all the veterans coming home with great needs, how important this is,” she said.

- Mr. Shays also spoke with affection and admiration for Mr. Blumenthal, whom he called “a person of high integrity.”

Yea, like I said, I dont see it.

While I'm sure he has done the politically correct thing for many constituent groups and may be a decent guy IRL his political persona makes 2000 Al Gore look like Flava Flav. He comes across as self-righteous and those are the politicos who get taken out by hypocrisy (See Spitzer, Elliot).

Not that I would have voted for her anyway, but any conceivable shot she had at my vote is gone based on the sheer volume of junk mail from her campaign. Not to mention the fact that she calls me at least twice a week which is fun because the Caller ID actually says "Linda McMahon" on it. I would get it if I was registered as a republican but I'm not, guess she must be really pushing to get the independent vote.

WWE to give away merchandise at Conn. polls (http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2010/10/29/news/doc4cc9f6e04e47d490068116.txt)

Wrestling promoter Vince McMahon is essentially sticking his thumb in the eye of Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz.

Celebrating a judge’s ruling that voters may wear World Wrestling Entertainment garb or trinkets to the polls on Tuesday, the chairman of the Stamford-based company announced today that the company will give away WWE merchandise outside some election sites.

“I can’t think of a better way for WWE fans to celebrate their constitutional rights and freedom of expression while voting than to proudly wear the WWE merchandise that Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz attempted to prohibit from the polls,” McMahon, husband of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon, said in a press release.
