There was evidence indicating Israel had committed serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law during the Gaza conflict and actions amounting to war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity, it was reported today by the United Nations fact-finding mission on the Gaza conflict, upon the release of the mission’s official report and recommendations.

The 575-page report, which was forwarded to the Government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority this morning and posted on the website of the Human Rights Council, also concluded that evidence exists that Palestinian armed groups committed war crimes, as well as possibly crimes against humanity, in their repeated launching of rockets and mortars into southern Israel.

This made some waves around the international scene today. Both sides dispute the facts and minimize the report as sensationism. The head of this mission is a Jew and has since been called a traitor and the Hamas Authority in Gaza claims thr rocket fire into Israel was defensive offering no other comment. What do you think?

I think those governments are fucked up, especially the part where they believe they're on some "promised land". What a bunch of hooey.

United Nations fact-finding mission should be an oxymoron. Not defending either Israel or Palestine but anyone who has ever worked with the UN (especially through the military) on any level in the past 20 years will join me in laughing at that line.

I'm not in a position to make an informed judgment on this report but if both governments are wildly pissed off at it I strongly lean towards believing it.

I can only say that my previously held vision of Israel was irreparably tarnished when I learned that 17,000 Lebanese people died at the hands of the Jews in 1982. Israel only lost about 700 people. It was an out an out genocide. For shame Israel, of all people the Jews should know better.

So, this report can't say anything that would sadden more then that news - I'm done with Israel until the day they give half of that tract of land back to Palestine.

I was in the region when this was going on so I'm not at all surprised. Of course, Israel will play the victim card and get away with the brute force they unleashed.
