Is it just me, or is Jimmy paying not paying attention to the show?
I've heard 4 or 5 times in the last couple days where he used to jump in and make a joke and now its silence coming from him

I've noticed him not jumping in on a few things recently - I guessed he was protecting his Leno gig.

He's a big TV star now. He doesn't need O&A anymore.

There have been looooooooooooong periods of time where he hasn't been jumping in at all, and the only voices have been Opie's, Anthony's, and - from time to time - Sam's.
I don't think Jimmy will be around much longer, provided the Leno gig is successful.

i suppose it was just a matter of time really...
how long would he want to keep up the lifestyle...
if he does leave i would be interested to see if they bring in another full time 3rd mic

Norton is a brilliant guy. I'd love if he got more mainstream exposure.
I don't know if he'll leave or if this thread is even true, considering I haven't listened to O&A in a long time.

I don't think SiriusXM is treating Jimmy very well, so he has to spend a lot more time setting up gigs and planning other stuff. He used to be able to put all of his attention on the show, but now he is diverted communicating with other people about other gigs.
Look at most of the recent videos Opie has put up - Jimmy is often buried in his Blackberry doing stuff. If Sirius isn't going to watch Jimmy's back, he has to watch his own.
And if Jimmy is going to be in Louie CK's new show...

o i agree... there have been tons of comments by him about not being taken care of by Sirius...
just today he made a "half pay" comment...
overall i think he is funny and hope he succeeds

Louis CK is just as busy as Jim.

He does seem out of it. But maybe it is just him adjusting to the leno gig and the show. He still does a great job.
And, it was awesome when he said "hello" to the recording of the caller.

I imagine Sirius's problem is they pay him and he misses so many shows because of other commitments (gigs, appearances).
I doubt they'd put up the kind of cash to pay someone like Patrice or Bob Kelly to do the same thing. They inherited O&A and the arrangements with the show from XM. They've done a lot to squash some of the liberties XM gave them since the merger.

Because, like good bean counters, they see Jimmy's time away from the show as hurting the show. Instead, of recognizing how valuable it is to have a comedian with HBO specials, Leno appearances, many comedy gigs, movie roles, TV roles, etc as a regular part of the show.

he does seem a bit aggravated with Serious, but I think he had a great show today.

SPECULATE SPECULATE
I think it has to do with the meeting he had awhile ago with management about his spots. He got really mad because they wouldn't run his spots. He had a meeting and came away satisfied that Sirius just had a couple of issues, which Jimmy understood and would respect.
However, now it sounds like Sirius has new/different problems with Jimmy's spots. So, he feels lied to.
Speculate!

that does sound correct to some extent. He plugged his show today and then said sarcastically you cant cut it out of the replay its part of the live show...

he's finally saying he's pissed with sirius, not just tryin to work things out.
Yeah he's like that guy at the meeting checking his blackburrry all the time. He's not really there. I don't blame him. Like when he stereo responded to the recording of the what's up jimmy during the caller's worst bombs bit. He's not paying attention. O&A are just too gratefull to call him out on it.
Side note - Ant has continued to pick up the slack, he's doin impressions, yellin screamin bits... He's tryn harder then ever. They know Jimmy's gone, I'm glad for him, it'll be interesting to see how the show evolves.

sirius/xm is fucking the show.
ron and fez have adapted, but they never really needed a large studio, or attention of the company.
Ron and Fez fly under the sirius/xm radar(minus Hitler-Fez), and are happy to be there, they have the best show on sirius/xm, yet are relegated to obscurity.
The virus in general is greatly ignored and FUCKED, by a company(sirius), which is run by RADIO guys, who are more worried about lapping the balls of a 6'10" hair extentioned asshole who does 150 shows a year and cant be bothered with what is important to the company.
The company is bullshit, Jason Ellis can go past 7pm at will, yet we cant even get live shows most saturdays. The "Best of countdown" further shows sirius awfulness, they used to replay all the shows for o and a and r and f over the weekend, now we get 2 r and f replays and the same 3-4hr o and a show all weekend, it is redundant and finds me serching for content on the weekend.
I really believe that ron and fez and opie and anthony, will be gone when their contracts are up, that will also be the day I cancel my XM, and listen to the same 10 CD's all day.
Sirius xm is fucking retarded, they gave howard 500,000,000, to be there, and they give them 150 shows a year.
Better business model would be 2-3 channels, o and a, r and f, ellis, ferell, fuck even throw bubba in there.
o and a mornings, $25 mill budget for talent and staff.
r and f mid-days, $10 million budget talent and staff
Ellis evenings, $2 million talent and staff.
Farell nights, 1 million for him.
Program 2 channels, keep o and a and r and f on one channel, then put ellis and farell on the other.
Run replays and heavily promote them.
On the weekends, do celebrity/friend shows, it helps the platform, as it can bring people to the channels for something different. As a person who listens to 50-60hrs a week of radio, I crave live programming.
you just programed 2 channels for the sirius/xm hybrid and did it for WAY less than Howard.
Its obnoxious what shit we have got since the merger, they are criminal with the business decisions that these people make, it blows my mind how they piss away money, $50 million for oprah??? Who is fucking listning to her fucking channel???
I am in 10-20 cars equipped with xm PER week, the channels I see on the presets are as follows....
20
60's-90's
66 and 67
121, fox
202
america right
america left
I honestly see 202 on many cars, probably only 10-15% so one car a week has 202 as a preset, i get so excited to see it on a preset.
most of the cars have music channels and i believe it is stupid that sirius drops the ball so much and really has the music channels fucked up by playing same songs or artists over and over.

I loved how quiet he is when fez is on the show, I wonder if it bugs him to realize was fez gets paid knowing how much he contributes.

Its more than likely a combo of Sirius fucking with the O&A show, his future with Leno and a personal tax bill he mentions when he plugs his gigs. He has to do more club shows because of that tax bill and Im sure he'd rather not be on the road.
Or maybe I'm wrong and should fuck off. :glurps:

I'm sensing that too.
I miss the good old days when the hosts from both shows weren't plagued by professional frustration over being mistreated and underappreciated by their employers.

What era was that? I must have missed it in my 10 years of listening.
Norton should move on, because it will most likely all end soon enough. Sirius is on life support anyway. Its a doomed format at this point. It was doomed from the second the "Merger" happened.
People can say what they want, but Howard Stern was the direct reason Sirius was able to buy out XM. If O&A were the strong product they claim to be the roles would have been reversed.
O&A killed themselves with the CBS show, but it was a great pay check for them. the quality of the shows were terrible, the drew nil in the Ratings department compared to thier prior PM drive show, and worst of all took none of those *new* listeners back with them.
R&F, I believe, can do incredibly well on Terr. Radio if they were to return. The only question is who would hire them? It's a lot of $$ to pay for a show like that, even if they come with a minimum of staff (which they basically operate on anyway). Still I believe the ratings would be there for them, they are the most versitale show of the bunch.
I cancelled my Sub some 3-4 months ago. I missed some aspects, but honestly feel better that I am not give money to a product that will be dead soon. I look forward to seeing Norton and R&F in the future. O&A however.........who knows?
