I just rode an elevator with Bruce Hornsby. I'm staying in Syracuse for a football game at Colgate tomorrow and as I was going out to get something to eat there was a guy waiting at the elveator who looked familiar. He asked me if I worked at Fordham and I told him I did and he asks me if I knew Dereck Wittenburg (the men's basketball coach). I said I did and then he says to me "Tell him Bruce Hornsby says hi". That's when I realized who it was. He said he's in town to play a private gig tonight.

Nice guy from what I could tell from an elevator ride with him.

So you bumped into Hornsby and he initiated the conversation? Sounds like Hornsby met you.

We booked him a while back while I was managing a theater in Gainesville. He seemed like a nice enough guy and he's a hell of a talented pianist.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

You could have probably finagled youre way to an invite to that "private gig." Which prob would have sucked, but still would have been cool at the same time.

You can tell he really protects his hands. When I went to shake his hand he extended his left hand and just kind of grabbed my hand.

I always loved his music although it is miles away from 90% of the music I listen to.

Dude!

How many did you have to compete with?

I was the first to arrive and the last to leave.

It seems as if he likes his college basketball. I sat behind him at a UVA/Duke game several years back. I got to meet him about ten years ago when he was playing at a university campus. He just came out to the lobby afterwards and rapped with us. Very nice guy.

I would have sung mandolin rain for him doing an axl snake dance and then got him to jump up and down in the elevator with me.

Then cried.

I have to admit-- i wouldn't recognize Bruce Hornsby if I hit him with my car. I just know his music sucks.

So, never tell me you are Bruce Hornsby or else you'll meet your maker via a Hyundai stationwagon.

I was on stage with him at one of his concerts, he was doing requests all evening and one was from someone who wanted to dance on his piano, so he allowed that and invited everyone to join in

It was great until some asshole tried to put a baseball cap on his head- he tossed it back at the guy and gave him a look that would have melted the Titanic iceberg

He's a great musician, very personable, and very talented, fuck the haters LOL

He does a most excellent Sugaree when he toured with The Other Ones.

He was the entertainment at a corporate gig about 10 years ago and put on an amazing show. We had him booked for an hour and he played for three. Spent a bit of time talking to him between sets and seemed like a genuinely nice dude!
