no, the post you were commenting on was in the MPW's thread, I can dig it up for you if you need me to.

Greg already made the point, especially when using iSpy, if you see something interesting, jump in no matter what thread it is in.

A messageboard just about the show and nothing else would be so small and there would be very little interacting on a daily basis.
We all have a life beyond Ron & Fez and most of us have become friends over the years, which is very common on all messageboards naturally conversations involve other topics than the show.

who cares if it messes up ispy. mikeyboy started that thread b/c he saw that there was a need (or desire) for poster to get random post out of their system. he saw this with the creation of mpw. he figured he's channel that energy to a good cause. now as far as traffic, since mb is no longer an owner/admin whatever, it wouldnt matter to him either way. i dont think he's trying to drive people away. people do that themselves when they start to care too much about other people's posting habits. and so what if it "messes up" ispy. pic thru it find the info you need. you were in fba. you know how posts drown in ispy. that mess should not be new to you.

Even if every single one of those people decided to only post in that thread (which is bullshit), it still wouldn't have nearly the impact you hand-wringers suggest.

People would joke or gripe about the "cool kids table" nature of the board, but I think it really has become a form of that in how people are so far up each other's asses in terms of using this board as an outlet for every mundane aspect of their own lives as opposed to mostly just having general conversations about non-personal bullshit. It's not a matter of people being "intimidated" by the chatter threads (because Lord knows they're not cool): they're just boring as hell for people that want to just bullshit about whatever as opposed to "well, how was YOUR day"-type platitudes day after day after day after day.

I'm not saying the board can't be a place for all these types of talk: my point is that we have a variety of forums that do a pretty good job of covering all the different "fields" where people could start threads about most of the topics in the chatter threads. It's much less "intimidating" for someone who can only log in every so often or someone who is new to see threads that are only a couple or a few pages long as opposed to these pointless monstrosities that are dozens or even hundreds of pages long.

But there are tons of those "other" type threads. Plus, the chat was starting to spill out into those threads once MPW disappeared. Yes, I know the shelter is still in existence, but even that makes only two threads you don't have to read or post in. if anything, that should streamline the board and make it easier to find the meaningful conversation you are looking for.

it's not like you post in show related threads, since you don't listen. You post in politics and sports. Same kind of banter which are threads I and many others entirely avoid, unless the discussion in them popping up in iSpy is interesting and then I click on them and post.
The show related threads that used to be endlessly long in the past few months were usually built on fights and arguments and were what ultimately lead to the board being labeled as negative.
If you have noticed; people like showerbench and esdfan have stayed away for a few weeks now. Why, you may ask? Because the show overall has calmed down and become a lot more mellow, so jerks like that don't bother posting in show related threads cause they have nothing positive to add.

But there are tons of those "other" type threads. Plus, the chat was starting to spill out into those threads once MPW disappeared. If anything, with the new thread, it consolidates that chatter making it easier for anyone who wants to avoid them. Yes, I know the shelter is still in existence, but even that makes only two threads you don't have to read or post in. if anything, that should streamline the board and make it easier to find the meaningful conversation you are looking for.

It was an obvious spill over from the closing of MPW due to the idiotic posting patterns for weeks. It would have died off, just as those two awful threads should right now. If we need a chat room, great get one by getting Jon off his twitter ass or fucking give the site away bc his interest is gone. Jeff had the sense to do it when he was done, time for Jon to do the same. He won't, bc his lack of personality couldn't handle it, not to mention his lack of identity.

I don't like that thread any more than you do, but why are you so angry about it that you're going to stay away for awhile? At least it's just one thread, instead of the dozen or so "look at me Ronnie" threads that get started every time Fez complains about this board.
