He signed a confidentiality agreement that prohibits him from talking directly about it but he described it as "A kind-of sequel to a cult favorite."
Dollars to doughnuts it's the Todd Solondz Happiness quasi-sequel that got a lot of buzz at TIFF.
I think it's Boondock Saints 2

i don't think boondock saints 2 could be considered a "kind of sequel", it would just be a sequel right?

a "kind of sequel" implies that it is not predictable or obvious

Begging the question would Ron go see Boondock Saints 2? And would a Todd Solondz movie need a confidentiality agreement?

My wife thinks is it's the Evil Dead sequel. She's pretty smart, so I'll steal her guess.

It's Paul O's movie re-imagined with an all toddler cast -- Baby Gap.

The original? Absolutely a cult movie. The "remake"/"sequel"? May go down as one of the worst.

Yes, especially with O&A and Jay Mohr.

Nothing like an open mind when approaching a new work of art.

I kind of agree with him just can't see Nick Cage in that role

Don't think of it as Nick Cage in Keitel's old role. If Herzog had his way this film wouldn't even have the title of the Ferrara's film. The premise is similar, but I think we should be expecting a different film.
This is Herzog we're talking about.
Plus Cage has been great in his past. He could still have something in him.

That's another thing what does a retired Major League manager know about making a film

If anyone can bring a great performance out of Cage it would be Herzog...he can be a complete lunatic.

Relax, I said it may go down as one of the worst. You certainly are quick to call it a work of art.

BL2 sounds like another strong possibility. That would be more likely to have a discretion clause since it's a Cage-Herzog collaboration.
I also suspected it could've been Wild Things - reading between the lines and interpreting "kind-of sequel" as adaptation and "cult favorite" as huge following among children, but I doubt there would be any such restrictions about him being able to freely acknowledge that he saw it with a week to go until its wide release.
I think it's Boondock Saints 2

I'm one of the remaining few who hasn't seen Boondock. I remember trying to watch it once and falling asleep immediately. Overnight was a fascinating documentary, though. If BS2 gets a wide release chances are I'll see it so hopefully I'll be able to fill in the blanks.

I've haven't seen Boondock Saints either - the type of person who raves about the movie has turned me off to ever seeing it. I wholly lack the desire to see the film based on the collective which hyped it a few years back.

Boondock getting panned by the critics...
14% on RT...
looks like they should have kept the secrecy clause until after the release

The original only has a 19% or so, critics hated that one too.

I've always loved Boondock Saints but after hearing how much of a douche that Troy Duffy was in last week's interview I appreciate it alot less. I'm flying a frayed American flag in my yard just for that modern day John Wayne.
