Oh please, you kiss asses....we know Ronnie is a great interviewer....that is why he has his own show, where he does precisely that.

But this aint that show, and this interviewee sucks.

if you don't like the show then turn it off. Ronnie B is the best interviewer in the business and the questions he's throwing at this guy are great. It was only 20 mins long anyway.. Want to talk about horrific radio: O+A with Sandy Kane, Jew David or Big A. That's when I punch out. (but I don't sit there on a msg board and bitch about it because its their show and not everyone dislikes the stuff I do)

I generally like the interviews, and Ronnie can surely make someone I am not familiar with interesting. But it seems that there is someone practically every other day plugging their book on the show. I guess the management folks are dictating some of the content, especially since they added the extra hour of time.

Yes Ron is a great interviewer....i said so myself.

But if there gonna spend 20 minutes on dreck, i would just as soon have Ron interview fans of the show, to showcase thier upcoming projects....not unlike what they do with franklyn, just not with franklyn.

The interview was dry, despite the topic. Its not slight at the show, just my o-pin-ion.

.

One person's dreck is another person's highlight of the week.

I knew nothing about today's author, but I was captivated by his story...and Ron was clearly a huge fan.

As for interviewing fans, there's more than a few who have way too much time on the show. Give me an obscure author or musician over b-market DJ's or attention whore-ish paltalkers.

My favorite part of the interviews is when the guest is intrigued because they are not getting asked the same questions that they get on every horse shit show. When the guy who writes about people says bravo to Ron following the interview you know something monumental just happened. The interviews are great and have exposed me to so many people that I never would have heard of.

There are certain interviews where fez isn't going to fit because ron is doing a serious, traditional interview. But there are other interviews which ron takes more lightly and I'd like to see him step into those, not even to ask questions, just to interact.

Fez hasn't felt like anything is his strong suit, but thats clearly in his head. As we've seen with the return of Fez bits this week the talent is still there, it's his confidence that is shot. Fez wont gain confidence in talking to a guest just waiting for it to happen, he has to put himself out there and do it, force himself to realize it is a skill he has.

The interviews show us the range and maturity of the show.

Personally, I couldn't listen to 4 hours of dick jokes every day. I probably wouldn't listen to 4 hours of interviews every day. That middle road is what makes the show work in my opinion.

The person interviewed runs hot and cold for me...
Sometimes I'm entertained, sometimes not...
but I think the purpose of 'more' and regular interviews...
is to help fill in time for the show...
The buddays are fully capable of doing 4 hours...
but after the 3 hours shows on XM,
they might need FU, scripted, filler time to give them a break
a few times a week from improvisational, conversational, comedic interplay...
(wow.. listen to me..look at that phrase!)

PLUS...
It gives Chris Stanley time to nap,
ESD time to make his personal calls,
and Fez can practice staring at Ron & adjusting his toupee...

I hope by doing all these interviews, they can get some real A-list guests. Also I'd like longer interviews depending on the guest. I don't know what they had to do to get Quentin Tarantino in there, but I think it was only about a 12 minute interview, that's someone I'd like to hear an hour on. Maybe not during the regular show, but who knows.

I'd much rather hear Ron interview somebody who is culturally significant than what is generally considered an "A-lister". Yeah, an hour with Quentin would be cool, but somebody like Iggy Pop is much more exciting to me than some vapid actor/actress hyping some computer-generated action movie.

I'm really shocked at the hate for this interview. I was going to start a thread saying how much I loved the interview, and how fascinating the guy was, and then I see this? The guy was inspirational, engaging, and did it all while gasping for air. I'm really disappointed that this is the reaction that interview got. I'm not a Ron asskisser. I have made my fair share of criticisms of the show, which I felt were grounded in reality and love for the show. I don't think I have tried to be mean-spirited with them.

The way Ron talked up the guys book, which may be a bit, hooked me on the dude. Plus the idea of writing a book and getting it published, to me, is awesome and impressive; apparently he is quite an accomplished true crime author.

I liked the interview purely based on Rons seeming to have a man crush on the guy.

I knew nothing about today's author, but I was captivated by his story...and Ron was clearly a huge fan.

While Ronnie was complimenting Susie Essman about her book, he dropped in a comment about how he sometimes has to read the book by someone who's coming in for an interview, and how he'll have to act like he loved it.

Ron: "I will say this... unlike for other people, it was a joy reading this."

Susie: "Really?"

Ron: "Yeah, a lot of times you have to read stuff for people who've written books... I've got one tomorrow... and where you're like 'Oh this is really...' ... no. This is actually really funny stuff."

By the timing of the interviews, I would guess he wasn't looking forward to reading "The Butcher"? But who knows.

But, see, that's the brilliance of Ronnie B. Anyone listening to the Philip Carlo interview, would only think that Ronnie was a huge fan, and that this book is the greatest thing he's ever read.

Fuck Ron Bennington. I'll probably end up dropping the $17.15 for the Carlo book now, and have already looked up what else he's written.

I think the interview Ron was pre-dissing was Mark Fuhrman but, fuck Ron Bennington, he even managed to make that a decent one. His preparation for all of them demonstrates his professionalism, his skills are better than Charlie Rose's.

The silver lining to Fez losing his mojo (for me anyway) has been the way Ron has had to step out from behind the comedian persona and reveal himself to be a fascinating all-around thinker. The only other talk radio I listen to is a bit of O&A and a lot of NPR podcasts. The Ron Bennington show takes the best of both genres and, unexpectedly, melds them perfectly.

Clarence Clemons & the Boondock Saints guys today were both top shelf. Fuck Ron Bennington.

It can take more than 5 minutes for me to decide whether I believe a movie sucks. I try to watch the whole thing, even if I feel from the beginning it probably won't be a great movie. I think 5 minutes of a movie actually isn't a fair assessment of the overall quality of a movie.

I completely agree. I love these interviews. I ran out and bought Butcher immediately and I have no interest in the Mafia. As Greg said, I could hear him interview a janitor.

I don't remember these many intelligent interviews when I listened to them at WJFK. I loved the show but it seemed lighter, more almost Abbott & Costello humor between Ron & Fez. Fez is a different character now (however you feel about his current on air personality, it's definitely different) and the show isn't going back to the old days. I am starting to prefer Ron dominating the show so much. Good point about the silver lining.
