Its taken me a couple years to truely appreciate the ever changing, always evolving show that is 'Ron & Fez'. Go with the flow and enjoy brother.

As for this site, you can find a niche for yourself or not. Don't let it rule your world.

ABSOLUTELY... THE SHOW EVOLVES...
I remember telling the complainers back in the Earl days
to sit back and enjoy... it's not going to last
and you'll be comparing future shows to what was going on then !

The SIRIUS influence has definitely altered the show..
No longer free-form.. there's structure...
commercial breaks, guests, limitations of what can be done.. etc.

STILL THE BEST DAMN THING ON RADIO THOUGH !!!
(quit yer belly-achin' and enjoy... you sound like a certain radio co-host)

Fez is offended by being invited to a party and there's no thread?

This place is far too concerned with how a certain emotionally challenged member of the show reacts.

I loved the flavor of the show when it was a local show. Bits like "You Know You Need Unique New York" and Iris from Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Late night local New York callers, those were the days. They used to brag that they had the "Best Callers in Radio". Fez's ambiguous sexuality wasn't the butt of every joke from every hack hayseed that could figure out how to dial a phone. The show seems to have lost its intelligence, having been dumbed down to play to a national audience.

Into the Ron Phones it in, and Fez isn't there anymore show.

So get with the evolution sonny, or get the fuck out of my R&F Show.

For awhile it seemed like every show would include Fez screaming at a hayseed caller. Seems that they are thankfully getting away from that bit. It got boring fast. I still cringe when I hear a heavy hayseed accent start off a call with, "hey Fez.."

I like Dave on special delivery, but RF Dave never seemed to evolve. His addition was simply the result of the Fez subtraction.

You're never going to have those callers when the show is on during the day. It was more laid back because people would call in after work. They would be unwinding from their day. I don't know how anyone with a normal job can listen to the show, let alone call in. I only hear the show because I listen prerecorded. It's not surprising the callers won't be as strong.

Move the fucking show back to nights already. They always give the reason that Fez would be an absolute ball of nerves all day waiting for the show, but he already is that now. There's no need to do it for his benefit. At least get the nighttime feel back. Seriously, I pray for the day R&F move back to nights.

I miss Dave but there is definitely truth in that. Dave sometimes seemed to be in a weird world where the only band was led by Axyl and there was an endless line around the block for Star Wars. Dave came into it though like a marathon runner who hasn't trained. There's a huge difference between meeting a stand-up crowd face to face and just getting a big break and trying to push it hard balls to the wall, like Dave did. He got hatched before his talent was nurtured, he can still be great--but yeah--evolution is the force driving this whole thing, this WHOLE THING.

The callers have been poor for a long time. I remember when the callers would start off their calls with so much show-created preamble:

Caller: Big ass card holder 241.

*sounder*

Caller: Dick holder card holder 160

*sounder*

Caller: My wife and I were out in the Chicago area and we stopped at Molly's and had a Ron Bennington cupcake. You know, it was a little difficult getting around Wrigleyville and my wife was tired, but the Ronnie B Cupcake was great.

Ron: Thanks. What d'ya have for us.

Caller: I have an Ichiban.

*sounder*

Caller: I guess it could also qualify as a Spy Report.

*sounder*

Caller: Brett Farve signs with the New York Football Jets.

Ron: Well, that's not exactly news. It was announced 4 days ago.

Caller: Hey Ron. My wife and I are looking to head into DC and was looking for some restaurant advice.

Ron: What kind of food are you interested in?

Caller: I don't know, man.

Ron: Tell you what, email me an ronandfez@aol.com and I hook you up with some recommendations.

Caller: Hey Fez. What does cum taste like?

Dreadful...

Long ago are the days of free flowing comedy pyramids where callers actually made us laugh vs trying to kiss the ass of the host or rip down another. Odd combo, but that's how people fall in line with each personality.

"Yes fez is not strong."

I registered to ask and this thread is as close as I've found. But what's happened to Fez? I listened to WNEW, WJFK and at the start of XM. I listened as recently as some of the siren series challenges between ESD and Fez. I remember Earl. But there seems to be a dramatic change to FEZ in the last year.

I know the show evolves, like a lot of you have mentioned. Ron's always pointed out that the show takes what it's given. But Fez almost sounds like he's been lobotomized. ESD is gone, I see from this board. Last I knew Fezzie was on his second stent and I just want to make sure he hasn't had a stroke or some major set back recently. What's up?

Well put and someone up the thread said, and I totally agree, that it's not likely that we'll see that type of show again - especially doing a national show at mid-day. It's just not the right crowd or time of day for that type of show.
Not being an insider, I have no idea why noon and 1 am is the slot. Whatever. Long ago, I stopped trying to figure out what the relationship is with OnA is, why they are so intimately tied to OnA, why they can't have an 8 PM slot on some channel, why nobody else ever really seems to give a shit about the time slot, blah blah...The show does fine the way it is for this incarnation of it.
Turn on the transmitter, wait for the tubes to warm up, take an hour or so of ichiban calls, do a few interviews, take a few more calls, donk. The value of the show right now is Ron's sharp wit with the callers and whatever intern happens to be around and his prep for the amazing interviews he does. I know some folks don't like the interviews but imo Ron's really really good at them.
Fez should take a six month sabbatical.

Maybe they could get some D list celebrity or a down on his luck actor like Tom Sizemore as the whipping boy. Ooops, I forgot--it's Sirius, and they don't pay people to appear on their radio shows.

I heard Fez on Monday when he and Rustin were supposed to have done rejoinders for the show. He sounded like he'd forgotten and was covering his ass like a little kid. And then semed unnaware they were bagging on him. Did he have a stroke or something over the last year? Is Ron contractually obligated to keep him on the air?

Ron's masturbatory interviews always bring the show to a screeching halt. It's gotten to the point he's just replaying his Unmasked interviews during the show to kill time.
