I don't think Calipari will have to cheat quite as much as UK as he did at Memphis, but, still, he's a dirty coach.

This only gives the ACC basketball coaches (with Kryzyzewski leading the way) more ammunition to bitch about how allowing the football schools in has ruined their basketball programs.

I'd blame Title IX more.

I would say that IX only really hurts smaller, non-revenue sports like baseball more than it affects gigantic revenue sports like basketball and football.

The ACC is in a transitional period where its trying to become a "major" football conference with the additions of Miami, Boston College, and Virginia Tech, and there are a lot of old-school basketball types, particularly along Tobacco Road, that really don't like it. It kinda started in the early 90s when they added FSU, but has really shot up in recent years.

Until this years are vacated due to the inevitable NCAA violations that Calipari brings with him.

deliciousV
12-21-2009, 09:40 PM
You're an ass. educate yourself a little before spewing sour grapes all over the place.
Camby took money from an agent, Calipari turned him in and got the following letter from the NCAA....On Nov. 19, 2004, the New York Daily news published an excerpt of a letter dated June 8 of that year from Tom Yeager, the chairman of the NCAA committee on infractions at the time, to Calipari. In part, it read, “The committee fully recognizes you had nothing to do with the violations of Marcus Camby during the 1995-96 season. In a sense, you were an innocent victim.

And as for the Rose deal, he was cleared to play by the NCAA clearing house, he took, and probably cheated on his SAT while in Chicago, far from Memphis where Cal was. Should coaches now attend the SAT's of all prospective players to insure they take their own test? Can you name one coach in the college world who would have refused to play Rose after the clearing house cleared him to play? This one will likely be overturned on appeal.

Calipari HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY TROUBLE WITH THE NCAA EVER! No time on probation, no accusations from the NCAA, only crybaby fans of loser teams bring this silly shit up, oh, and Bobby Knight, the spoksman for ethics.

There was alot of activity in the NCAA polls this past week, kinda sad this thread hasn't been bumped much.

I'm super disappointed in Duke's 2 losses, however, they played like shit vs Wisconsin, so good for the Badgers, got them into the top 25. As for GT, grrrrrrrrrrr! I'm so over there not being a big time closer for Duke. Scheyer doesn't count, his shot selection is awful, at best, in game ending situations.
Oh well, march is all that counts...get the losses outta your system NOW boys!

ok,i'm going to show my age,but when vitale first started doing college basketball he would only use a diaper dandy or ptp'er once a game, the rest of the time he spent explaining defenses and strategies,it was different from the other analyts becuse he would get into the game, get excited and give you a great perspective of why teams were doing what they were doing and what to look for. hes been out of the game for so long that he's lost that ability, his voice has gotten weak and he has to rely on his stale catchphrases,it really is sad to see the kind of color commentator he has aged into

UNC has a real good chance of going out of the ACC in the first round, 16-16 for the year might not even get them the chance to thumb their noses at the NIT. I predict we will soon see mass defections from that team, chemistry issues will be revealed, this was a much better team at the beginning of the year (beating Ohio State, and Mich State), something else was going on to turn that group of McD's all Americans to shit so fast, I enjoyed watching it happen though.

How pointless are the conference tournaments! A team can play well for 4 months during the regular season, win their conference during the regular season, and prove to be the best team in their conference....But some team who finished last with a losing record, gets hot over a 3 days span, wins the conference tournament, and makes the NCAA tourney...So the team that played well over the course of an entire season gets left out in the cold, while a team who played well for 3 days reaps the rewards....It's a retarded system set-up for TV, nothing more!

What are you talking about?

Teams who play well during the season, win their championship in the regular season, etc. usually make the NCAAs, unless they are from a small division.

it doesn't quite work because it would be unfair for a #1 seed to have to play a team like Miss. St or Va Tech in the 1st round. you could have three teams from the lower conferences (atlantic sun, patriot, ohio valley, big ten) play those play in games and have the bubble teams take the 12/13 seeds.

ok.i know this sounds crazy to those in the northeast because you've been brought up to believe the ratings hype put out by the media networks that are centered there but here goes

its not so much of who should have gotten in,we could argue about that forever, its the way they seed big east teams, notre dame squeezes in but gets a #6 seed? last year the big ten was "granted" michigan and wisconsin #10 and # 12 seeds(they both won 1st round games but thats besides the point) if you're going to take these overrated teams (over rated by the NYC media) that the committee insists on kissing ass then at least give them a position they deserve, granted the cuse and pitt are really good teams and i see nothing wrong with they're positioning but if you're going to place 8 teams at least try and be fair and put their 5th thru 8th teams in positions lower than 9th so they dont get walk over games in the first round to make thier conference look good. it all goes back to the 80s when the big east really was a good conference and the tourney started getting full coverage ESPN and CBS started paying the NCAA big money and wanted the big east teams that had no real backing but a bunch of fat stupid couch potatoes that watched alot of TV and bought stuff from advertisers. now to the present, the fat stupid people are told that the big east is a great conference dispite that they loose in the tourney because they get alot of teams in and they get good positioning, fatty stupee believes it and says the same thing over and over again til they believe it. its like how the banks told they stock market how investments in their mortgage loans was a great idea because the ratings companies that they set up said it was a good idea.

What are you talking about?

Teams who play well during the season, win their championship in the regular season, etc. usually make the NCAAs, unless they are from a small division. It applies to teams in smaller divisions, as well as bigger ones......

Example for both instances...

MAC Conference: Kent St. goes 23-9, 13-3, and wins their conference title... But they aren't going to the NCAA Tournament. You know who is? Ohio.. Yes, the same Ohio team who didn't even have a winning record in conference(7-9)...So Ohio's hot 3 days somehow trumps Kent St. 4 months of consistent basketball...Makes a ton of sense! The NCAA tournament is full of those examples from smaller conferences....

Another example...

Washington is mediocre all year. They are in a weak conference, and lack quality wins. Washington gets hot for 3 days, wins it's tourney championship, and makes the NCAA tourney. So Washington gets in over more deserving teams like Illinois, Virginia Tech, and Mississippi St. Why? Because they got hot over the course of 3 days...Houston, New Mexico St, and a few others are examples of this....

The conference tourney championships are for TV. They don't make sense beyond entertainment. There's no way a regular season championship, acquired over the course of a long season, should be trumped by a silly tournament over the course of 3 days!

I don't follow college sports very closely, but I love the tournament this time of year. I am confused by something though.

How the hell did Duke get the overall #1 seed if they were #4 in the nation going into this? I mean they are playing the winner of that play-in game, and traditionally the overall #1 is who plays that winner.

The #1 overall seed doesn't have to play the winner of that game, if it's judged there's a qualifier even weaker than those too. Kansas is indeed officially the #1 seed.

What happened is that the Committee didn't take certain recent changes into account. Villanova is the #4 seed in that bracket, and they've been stinking out the joint lately, and Purdue has lost one of their best players to injury.

I think it's obvious, though, that the committee does not watch the final weekend of basketball. They had this bracket drawn a week or so ago, and they've just been ordering room service and porn PPV since then.

true....but kentucky has also had some difficulty with teams they should have crushed. They almost lost to Alabama in the first round of the SEC tourney and it took them overtime to beat Miss. State. They also let ONE guy on South Carolina take a game over on the way to a loss. None of these teams are in the dance this year. Alternatively, Kansas' most shocking loss on the season was getting beat by OSU and they're a 7 seed in a difficult MidWest bracket. Since that loss though, Kansas has been decimating teams, while Kentucky has struggled to pull the win off. Kentucky has a great team, and they're hella fun to watch, but i think this year we see talent fall to experience.

Hell, all that stuuf you said is true about them having a hard time closing out teams they should have crushed, and lets not forget it took Kansas OT to beat a bad Colorado team, both our picks are good, and both have tough roads and could be gone before they ever meet while Duke tiptoes thru that tulip garden they got. lets have an avie bet. you name the stakes. i dont care

The Big East has five more teams than the Big Ten....so they obviously have a greater chance at getting more teams in....

This past decade the Big Ten had 8 teams make the final 4, while the big east only had 6.

This past decade the Big Ten had 5 teams make it to the championship game, while the big east only had 2.

While typing this, this very second, I laughed to myself at the idea of comparing the two conferences in football.....anyway...

The Big Ten contains schools with academic standards....even for basketball players...Despite that, the Big Ten is still highly successfull....

Big East academic entrance standards, applied to prospective basketball players:

South Florida....none
Seton Hall....none

You're right! Comparing the big east to the Big Ten in football, is really no comparison at all.....But...

Comparing the academic standards between the conferences, is valid.... The Big Ten has an extra hurdle(academics) to clear in maintaining successfull basketball porgrams.....something the big east doesn't worry about.....Shit, most of the players in the big east wouldn't be allowed on a Big Ten campus!

On the court this past decade.....

The Big Ten has much better coaches...

8 Final Four appearances, to the big east's 6...

5 National Championship appearances, to the big east's 2

So you can take your waterdowned, overrated conference, and teabag it!

I've got an Idea, lets give dave, a guy who says he doesn't like KY in the NCAA'S and believes TX will upset them, and believes that UCONN will do well as always (he said it.a couple of weeks ago), and has KANSAS winning it all, his own sports radio show! Funny guy for sure. But no sports prognosticator,

So far, Cornell rockin'. Of course the better they play, the less chance coach will return.

Where's that guy who was bragging about how good the Big East was?...

Big East: 8 teams in the NCAA Tournament....2 teams in the Sweet 16
Big Ten: 5 teams in the NCAA Tournament....3 teams in the Sweet 16, which includes 2 teams, Purdue and Michigan State, who are playing without their best player.....Oh, and those 3 teams in the Sweet 16 from the Big Ten, is the most among any conference....

The rumor says that one of the main reasons Gus can't call "the big one" is that CBS can't trust him if something catastrophic happened.

I fucking hate Duke. I've hated them for 20 years. I want to murder their fans. I think I hate Duke fans more than any other team on this planet.

After this great tournament with so many great upsets, it'll suck if fucking Duke wins it.

That would be like the Cinderella story ending with her putting on the slipper, finding it fits, and being whisked away by Prince Charming...and taken to a party a bunch of his douchebag friends are at, who proceed to gang rape her in the bathroom.

Thank God that that bastard Billy Packer got shown the door. He was the king of Coach K's ball-licker brigade. It would be disgusting.

Though Kellogg and Nantz did their share of asskissing last night.

The first kid in a while who could make an definitive impact in the NBA from West Virginia, suffers something that could END HIS CAREER, and you want to make fun of the coach consoling him?

Go fuck yourself.

My estimation of Huggins went up tenfold seeing that. It's undeniable how much he loves his players.

Of course, him being caught on mic saying sarcastically "Yeah, they [Duke] never foul anyone" just before that helped too.

By the way, he's got a torn ACL and sprained MCL. His NBA career is seriously in jeopardy.
