Ive been thinking of buying a 12 month subscription to the Ron&Fez shows at Audible.com....has anyone tried these? Do they have EVERY day's show and without commercials? How quickly do they put the shows up? 1-2 day lag or same day? I mean - how long before you can listen to that (current day) day's show?

I know where I can get them otherwise for free, but the audio quality lately has been tough on my speakers (especially when Fez yells) and I dont want to complain for something free......I just want to support them as well.

Someone tell me if audible.com is worth it?

Its worth it.Y ou can download the show at a round 5 or 6 pm. Its a lot cheaper than XM. You can go back and download shows you missed.

No commercials either. Two complaints: Sometimes takes until the next day to get the show up (maybe once a week). No 'extra' shows are available--Super Bowl show, live evening show, etc. This doesn't really seem to be a problem though, as someone on here usually uploads extra shows somewhere.

I use Audible. Good quality. Worth its pricetag.

oh yeah - Im reading through these search links, but one more question - can you download the entire show from audible and keep it as a file on your computer, or is it streaming only?

I listen to the Audible downloads. No commercials.... a written synopsis of every episode.... decent quality... daily email "alerts".... chapter stops... etc.

However... I hate that it's not in mp3 format. YES you can save it your computer/ipod but it's not a very user friendly interface. You have to download the episodes with their "audible manager" or whatever the heck it's called. Then you have to find it, select it, and open it in iTunes. If you try to convert it to an mp3... iTunes will not let you.

But as I said... the content is there, it sounds good.
I say, go ahead and subscribe.

Mine automatically downloads on itunes. Very easy. I'm very happy with Audible. Usually get my episodes by 8pm the day it was tapes.

Yeah, that's my only complaint as well. They said on their website something about trying to get DRM free mp3 downloads available to the customers but I'm skeptical they have made any real effort. Other than that having the show on demand is awesome.

Wait, you don't have to download it from the Audible manager. I subscribe directly through ITunes. It downloads automatically when I refresh my podcasts.

Nope, nothing additional - maybe some taxes but the cost is the cost.

You can download and keep them forever.

Yeah, same here. Forget that download manager. I only go to the audible site to renew my sub once a year.

What format do the audible files come in? DRM AAC files, like iTunes used to do?

Really?
I thought the shows appeared on Audible every night... but appeared on iTunes several days later. Do the shows on iTunes appear every night?

The file extension is .aa It's audibles audiobook format. It remembers where you left off if you decide to break and listen to music on your ipod. It also knows your devices, so no sharing of audible files. More on that here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audible.com#Digital_Rights_Management

Yes, they appear at the same time as they do in the device manager, though I've seen instances where the show appeared at audible hours before iTunes got it.
