are you in a place where you could see it without driving somewhere? If so then get up at 4:00, make a large cup of coffee, and enjoy a meteor shower for yourself. I might get up then and try to see it, even though I'm in the suburbs.

Ugh! I tried. I miss not having too much light pollution! That, and I kept hearing freaky noises outside, combined with the fact that I have bad eyesight.

From what I saw online, it will keep happening until my birthday. Maybe that's when I'll see it. I love meteor showers!

The shower itself has a cyclic peak year every 33 years where hundreds of meteors can be seen each hour. The last of these occurred in 2001. The shower peaks this year on November 17 & 18, but you can usually see some meteors from November 13 - 20. The moon will be totally out of the way this year, providing an exceptional viewing experience for the Leonids. Look for the shower radiating from the constellation Leo after midnight.

December 13, 14 - Geminids Meteor Shower. Considered by many to be the best meteor shower in the heavens, the Geminids are known for producing up to 60 multicolored meteors per hour at their peak. The peak of the shower is on December 13 & 14, although some meteors should be visible from December 6 - 19. This year, a nearly new moon will provide an excellent viewing experience in the early morning hours. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Gemini. Best viewing is usually to the east after midnight.

I saw that one in 2001. It was like 2 degrees out at the time, but it was worth it. I was house sitting for my mom in WV, so it was very dark. I saw more than one meteor per second. The whole sky was full of them. Spectacular.
