so, to date, we are looking at approx $155 dollars worth of posts.

what do you think it will get up to?
how high will it go?
is there somehow an official post count per person?
are the mods too fucking lazy to have it counted, or does that fall on the lack of an administration?

You're still awful.

That thread at least keeps the chatter in one place where it can easily be avoided, and moves it towards a positive end. You would have an easier time avoiding the Most Post Wins thread than you would avoiding all of the threads you started about your wedding and buying your house.

That said, this thread is kind of unnecessary.

I would say there's less than 10 of them, and none of them are younger than a year old.

Even 10 seems like a lot though, doesn't it? My point stands. It's one fucking thread and too many people are wringing their hands like it's the end of the world. Anyone who thinks that thread is the biggest problem on this board sees what they want to see.

I don't think it's so much the thread itself that bothers me, it's the modquotes, which ARE all over the board. It's like they are proud they are the biggest post slores here, and to be honest, that's what bothers me. it's like self-validation... something. I don't know, I can't explain it.

I mean, is the winner going to go around all proud of themselves that "I HELPED KIDS THE MOST, HA HA HA!" seriously?

Also, the other thread which took you and the show to task for not pumping up the thread also ticked me off. A lot of people donate to charity here. We don't need the guilt trip.

If you have a problem with mod quotes, take it up with the mods. Non mods have no control over mod quotes. You know this.

I mean, is the winner going to go around all proud of themselves that "I HELPED KIDS THE MOST, HA HA HA!" seriously?

You can't be serious. This is an amazingly retarded statement. Does Liz run around saying "I RAISED MONEY FOR BREAST CANCER, HA HA HA!"? Of Course not. Has anyone boasted about the money they are donating? No.

Also, the other thread which took you and the show to task for not pumping up the thread also ticked me off. A lot of people donate to charity here. We don't need the guilt trip.

It was one thread, and it died rather quickly. You shit on that thread too, claiming that the people in it were starved for attention (ironic given my point about wedding and house threads and also just plain inaccurate). Somebody started a thread trying to get other people to start posting to donate. Maybe it was a little heavy handed. Maybe not. Frankly it was no different than any other thread on this board trying to get people to donate to a charity. Frankly there hasn't been any kind of hard sell. You can participate or not.

I think you have a lot of misplaced anger towards a thread that you can easily avoid.

I've lurked here for years. I lurk, to greater or lesser extents, on a dozen other boards specific to a variety of subjects.

Forums seem to have a life. They ebb and flow, peak and dwindle, they change, they are dynamic.

Matty, in all his glorious anger, has a point. The dynamics of this board has changed.

The shelter had a purpose. It gave disjointed FBAers a safe place, somewhere to get their footing and baby-step into the dotnet community.

MPW ( 1 & 2) are different animals. They are Twitter.
Their content is applicable to those who are logged in at the moment,
but there's no lag time.

Good points, great threads are just buried in babble.
The average lurker is never going to wade thru 12 pages
of inside crap to find a something to contribute to.

Rock on guys, in making (lifelong) friends you've driven one of my favorite outlets

Yet another litany of people with a preconceived notion of how the board should work, or how it was better in the old days.

Quit your bitching if you don't like it. You want to make a change? Post something interesting. Start a new thread. do something!! Anything!!
It's easy to sit on the sidelines and complain. The real members who want change will step the fuck up!

And for the record, I owe the charity about $2.50.

There's more drivel and nonsensical chatter in those "listening threads" than anywhere else on the board.

It's mostly what people are having for lunch or people posting pics of hot chicks.

German imports are extremely expensive when it comes to parts. If I'm not mistaken, the C-Class needs synthetic oil also.

If so, an oil change can cost about $150.

They're also expensive to insure because of the price of the parts.

With all do respect I think you are missing my point.

I dig the whole stream of consciousness thing.
Sometimes a Great Notion is my favorite novel.

It's not a question of just jumping in. It's the the fact that good topics begin
and end in those threads. If you're there it's good, if you miss it, too bad.

Example: We all know Hottub is big into BSA.

My sister-in-law refuses to let my nephew get involved with scouting because she thinks they're homophobic and her brother is gay.

I argue tat my current love of all things outdoors was instilled in me because I
was a Boy Scout. The debate still ins uses.

Scroll back in MPW(2) and buried between good nights and good mornings you'll find Tub posting about scouting. It's a good topic and it's buried.

If it were a thread maybe the members who weren't online at that moment that night could contribute. Someone logging in the next day could read the initial post and comment. Who knows ??
Maybe some gay scoutmaster who's doing some stint at Piermont might log in a week later and offer some real incite.

That's how I've always thought message boards worked.

MPW is just twitter on JustJons bandwidth buck.

Ok MPW is first and foremost a contest, the basis of which is whoever posts the most wins. What we do in there to keep things interesting is have conversations on various topics, as I'm sure happens in other threads like MPw ( The Shelter, Post Purgatory, etc.). So a topic gets missed, so what? Most topics that are started end very quickly. It's rare when you see a thread stay around for a long time.

Plus MPW will end eventually. No need to worry, things will go back to where you are used to them.
