View Full Version : Hulk Hogan’s impact on TNA Impact’s rating

Did all the media attention surrounding the announcement of Hulk Hogan’s business arrangement with TNA make a difference in the ratings for this past Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact?

Yes and no.

The rating for the show was a 1.3, which equals its best-ever rating (although it was not a company record for most viewers). During the first four weeks of October, Impact did between a 0.9 and 1.1.

Impact also had its best showing among males 18-49 and males 18-34 since April.

That’s the good news, especially since the show was going head to head with the World Series between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies. However, when the ratings are broken down, the final segment, which showed clips of the news conference in which Hogan’s signing was announced – and had been hyped the entire show – was part of the lowest-rated quarter of the episode, according to prowrestling.net.

I think Ive been one of his most vocal critics but I have to say, regardless of what the ratings say, this weeks Impact went against the biggest Raw of the year, and was hands down the better show.

It wont make a difference how good the show is if it continues to pull in ratings like that (I was wrong, it was a 0.6) I still don't get why they decided to go against Raw.

i would have liked if they built up a lil steam before going head to head

but if nothing else hogan has brought tna's existence to who knows how many wrestling fans that didnt know tna existed, didnt know they were on cable and not doing the weekly ppv thingy

The ratings dont reflect that... they were pulling 1s before and they're pulling .6s now, which would indicate to me (though I dont really know how ratings work) that they've lost 40% of their audience, presumably to Raw. Considering Raw hasnt seen a big ratings increase this means that these people were watching Impact on Thursday and decided that they would rather watch Raw. GG TNA.

I dont think they are going anywhere for awhile. Spike TV put them there because they had no Monday Night audience, and want to try to steal some from Raw. They dont care about beating Raw. They care about stealing some of their viewers. The ratings are no worse then what was on it before TNA moved. And UFC wants no part of a Monday show. So what does Spike really have to lose keeping TNA there?

Their timing was just ridiculously dumb though. Even people that have been annoyed with Raw follow around Mania time just to see if they will do anything good. So moving a month before Wrestlemania was just dumb. This Monday shouldve been their first Monday Impact show. Last weeks Raw basically showed some of the angles WWE is planning, and they dont seem much different then the last years.

They really need to start going live every week too. Im sure they lose plenty of viewers that read 3 weeks of results beforehand.

His impact hasn't changed squat since the last post on here in 2010.

He wants to wrestle Sting but can barely walk and had Richard Flair fight him a few weeks back.

Impact indeed.

Last night's episode of Impact did a 1.15 rating with an average of 1.6 million viewers. This is down from last week's 1.23 and 1.7 million viewers and is the lowest rating since October 27th, when they did a 1.14.

The show ranked #23 for the night among cable shows in overall viewers, #16 among males 18-34 and #13 among males 18-49.

Things seem to be going well.....

The last time i saw Impact was when the Nasty Boys and Jimmy Hart were coming down the aisle when Hogan first came back. I then turned the station, discontinued my DVR series recording, and pretended the company just folded.
