So I couldn't sleep at all today, and I had a moment where I needed to decide to try and sleep some more or to say screw it and stay awake. For me that point was about 3AM considering that I get up for work at 5. So, what's your point of no return?

I can usually tell within five minutes if I'm actually going to fall asleep. I actually assume most people can, I think when you get used to needing a certain amount of sleep a night that you're forced to try out of necessity. If you weren't used to getting six to eight hours sleep most nights, you'd probably bail a lot earlier. I used to lay awake in bed waitng for sleep for hours, and I did it most of my life. Once I switched to third shift and had a kid, I just got used to getting only a few hours sleep at night. Now that years have gone by and I can actually function well on a couple hours sleep, it doesn't feel as pressing to try to force it, so if it doesn't happen right away I just get up right away.

Try two beers and a glass of scotch. Works for me.

None

I try to sleep even for an hour

there will be bad Acid Reflux nights that will keep me up when I have wake up at 6

even if I can not fall asleep until 5:00 am , I will still try to get the hour sleep

I'd say a half hour before I had to wake up. I'd try for an hour at least.

If it's between 4 or 5, I turn on the tv and ride it out.

If i can't sleep and it gets to be about 4 am, anxiety sets in and that compounds it even worse. Acid reflux is another problem and i usually end up sitting up watching tv until it goes down. Either way if it gets to be 5 am, i ride it out and go on auto pilot for the day.

if I don't fall asleep right away, I read until I do. I try to get any sleep possible. then I take a nap later on. But I don't have to get up and go to a real job. I just have to be slightly awake to watch my kids and make them lunch and play cars or dolls with them.

my sleep schedule is beyond fucked up. i can't fall asleep unless i am extremely tired. if i'm not asleep within 10 to 15 minutes of laying down, i know i won't be able to fall asleep. i usually will get up and read. i can easily go 24-30 hours without sleep.

I don't sleep, I drink, and then I wake up. That's my nights.

Yeah, but you're a meth head so it doesn't really count.

I went to Alaska and couldn't sleep. All that sun light. I ended up shooting my partner in the fog. I tried to cover it up, but it didn't turn out so good.
