What does it mean when we see a glimpse of the future in our dreams? Can you explain it?

simply put it means your fucked.. cause you don't realize it until the moment is already happening.. so it is pretty much useless......

It was explained to me years ago in very simplistic terms. Deja vu is nothing more than having a "brain fart"-- your brain accidentally stores new information as a memory.

NEWYORKDRAGON -

Deja vu has been described as the same NEW feeling all over again.

The question you pose about pre-cognizance and the future is an incredibly complex question that centers upon one of the better known physics debate going on now. Chances are you have some exposure to the concept of alternate futures.

The debate is really an outgrowth of superstring theory, which was a terrific way of uniformally describing mathematically the very different observations of the macro and microscopic universe. It bridged the gap b/w Einstein and quantum physics.

The problem with superstring theory is that the most widely accepted theory requires there to be a minimun of 9 - 32 (Not positive about that last number) dimensions of spacetime. Since we can only sense 3 (4 if you count time, which we can't really detect other than as a measurement of distance) a new mystery was created - where are the other dimensions?

Prior to this it was known that the act of observation changes the thing being observed. (It's very hard to quickly explain, but a very short version is that an outcome exists as a probablity wave not a certainty and the observation collapses the probablity wave into an actual event. Take a photon. We know they travel as both waves and particles and we also know that they can either reflect or refract. An individual photon will do one or the other. We don't know which it will do before it does it and the chances of it happening are exactly 50-50. Until we see what it did, the photon exists in both states, having reflected AND refracted.

If that example was murky, consider the famous example of Schroedinger's cat. The cat was placed in a box with a cyanide capsule. There was exactly a 50-50 chance that the cyanide would be released. If it was the cat would die. Schrodeinger showed that until the box is opened the cat is simultaneously alive (b/c the capsule didn't drop) AND dead (b/c the capsule dropped).

It was a fairly quick evolution from this idea to the idea of alternate universes. One of the intriguing theories is that every time something has a chance of happening, if it occured here, another universe is created where the event did not occur. Similarly if it didn't happen here, a universe is created where the event did occur.

There is heated debate about what happens to these universes. Some believe that the duration of these universes exist for an amount of time proportionate to the scope of the change.

For example in our universe a massive asteroid hit the Yucatan penninsula and killed most life. A universe where the asteroid missed the earth or burned up upon entry would be very stable b/c all the sequala that resulted from it would be changed exponentially over time. Who knows how dinosaurs would have evolved had they not been killed. Who knows what life form would be predominant now and if it would have intelligence.

The future then is a murky concept where all eventualitie are possible. All these possibilites are realities in different or parallel dimensions and universes.

presque vu is dreaming of an event before it happens.

deja vu is beleif that you've lived an event before.

So, basically, there is an Earth 2 (or even an Earth 32.) Where there is a different version of every decision humanity makes.

Just lay off the acid and the shrooms and you won't have anymore puzzling dreams. Here, I'll help you; give your stash to me...:)!
