First, having come from a rural town in the middle of the Midwest, even in those areas the rural folks are not the same as they were and would not be able to live off the land like they could in the past.

Second, when is the shit going to hit the fan such that people will have to live across the land nationwide? People have said that's going to happen for the last 60 or so years now, and it hasn't. There is a possibility that it may, but to assert that it will is silly.
