There was a friend of mine on murder
And the judge's gavel fell
Jury found him guilty
Gave him sixteen years in hell
He said "I ain't spending my life here
I ain't living alone
Ain't breaking no rocks on the chain gang
I'm breakin' out and headin' home...
OK, so I have a few questions... can people recommend some useful Ipod Touch (not Iphone) apps?
I currently have the following:
SiriusXM
CheapGas
AIM
ESPN Score Center
Wifi Finder
Pandora
TGI Black Friday
AIM
Paper Toss
Twitterific
Yelp
AOL Radio
iheartradio
I'd like to see if there's more out there. Free preferably, but if you've got more, I'd like to hear it.
The second part is, is there a reliable source on jailbreaking a 3G that isn't some blog of ill repute run by a 16 year old? I know there was info on Gizmodo, but it's over a year old.

Here you go everything you need to know about Jailbreaking
These are the people who put out the tools to Jailbreak (one of them happens to be around 16 years old)
http://blog.iphone-dev.org/
Here are step by step tutorials on how to jailbreak just choose the device you have and follow the directions. It's very easy to do and you can always restore you device back to normal nothing is permanent. IMO it's a waste of time to jailbreak a iTouch you aren't going to find anything there that is that great for the iTouch, Jailbreaking is much more useful for the iPhone.

I want to multitask - run XMSiri while surfing or something.

Get Peggle, you will love it! I am so happy I got my iPod touch. Best investment ever for me as far as entertainment and tools goes.
I have like 40 apps on the damn thing and I look every day for more. I prefer buying the apps over getting the free version because of the ads. I just got the Merk Manual for $9.99 and its the most I ever spent, but its great, and you do not have to be online to use it.
I also recommend the apps that have the classic books, because they are full books, dozens and dozens of them for 99 cents and you can read them anywhere. The Peggle game I play every night while in bed. I post from it, I watch porn on it, its amazing. I got the screen protector and a skin from more-thing (http://www.more-thing.com/apple.html) I got the diamond skin, it looks awesome and give it a nice grip.

Ok there is a free app for that in Cydia (The Jailbreak App Store) called Backgrounder. The other Cydia apps I use require a camera and cell service two things the iTouch doesn't have that's why I said it's not worth it for a iTouch but for multitasking then it's worth it. Like I said if you don't like it you can always restore it back to the original firmware.

I would consider jailbreaking my itouch for this same reason...that way I can access my home music library via simplify while doing other things.

What is the advantage to jailbreaking the iPod touch? I have the latest version. And, how do you do it?

Jailbreaking creates a additional partition on the iPhone/iTouch and adds custom firmware. When you have a jailbroken device you can download apps that apple rejected or apps that make your device do things that apple didn't intend for the device to do. How do you do it ?Very easy just click the tutorial link above and follow the directions. If you can point and click you can figure this out, it's not hard at all. The only thing is when you do this you automatically void your warranty, but if you have to take your device back to the Apple store for some reason all you have to do is restore it and the jailbreak will disappear and they won't be able to tell what you did.

I searched it out and I am curious, but I also fear that it may expose it to malware that some idiot will make who targets Apple stuff. Isn't that a possibility, even with Apple stuff? Otherwise I am fine as it performs now. I have only had mine for 6 months, so I'd probably wait till after the warrantee runs out, because from what I was searching they can tell if it was jailbroken on occasion, but depends on who you get in the apple store. My brother brought his touch to them and it had gotten soaked and ruined, and he tried everything to revive it but nothing worked. Be brought it in and he got a lazy guy that didn't even look at it and handed him a new one, no questions asked. He got lucky. If it was me, they take it in and know and I'd be told tough luck.

Jailbreaking a phone does not void the warranty.

Well if you jailbreak your iPhone and you need to take it in for service all you do is restore you phone to the original firmware. You do that by pressing that restore button in iTunes. They won't be able to tell that you have jailbroken your phone. I have had to take my phone in numerous times for various things and every time I just restore to the original firmware and no problem.

That's very easy to avoid when you install SSH on a jailbroken phone it tells you to change the password but most people ignore that part. That virus is only targeting jailbroken iPhones with SSH installed, Very easy to avoid.

Are you sure about that I am 100 percent positive that if you take a jailbroken phone into the apple store because you are having problems with it they will not honor the warranty b/c you tampered with it by jailbreaking it.

I am happy with mine as it is and the only think that I "may" want to do is change the background from black to something else, but as far as getting "free" applications goes, unless those apps are awesome and make it do all kinds of cool shit, I don't really believe in that stuff, and also feel that since most apps are like a buck, its not a huge price to pay. But I do see the point. I'd also like to see a motivation for someone to make apps that are cool and they should profit from their labors. Of course, who does not like free shit though? :)

If you took a jailbroken iPhone into an Apple Store, or called the support line, they wouldn't support any of the jailbreak apps, and probably just tell you to restore it. So, yeah, to that extent it's not covered.
But even if the iPhone is jailbroken, if the issue is clearly hardware, the fact it is jailbroken doesn't matter. For example, if the phone is dropping calls because the GSM circuitry is fucked up, that's still covered. You'll get your phone back restored to default software, but they'll fix it.

I don't know I wouldn't feel comfortable flaunting it in their face like that I would just restore the phone before I went in there. I use a Cydia app that backs up all my packages so it's not that big of a deal for me to do a restore.

What do you use to backup your packages? I rue the thought of writing down all the shit I've installed.
