Horrific story and the shooter has a long rap sheet. Some are saying that this could be Huckabees Willie Horton problem. He commuted the sentence back in 2001

just based on the title of thread:

"Vagrancy wasn't it? That's gonna look real good on his grave stone in Arlington: Here lies John Rambo, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, survivor of countless incursions behind enemy lines. Killed for vagrancy in Jerkwater, USA."

in all seriousness, that's pretty tragic.

The thing is, this goon has gotten out of jail a few times after Huckabee granted him clemency. So it's not exactly entirely Huckabee's fault. Of course, knowing how our media works, he'll take the fall.

There's two paths the media will take :

1) he's black

or

2) Huckabee pardoned him

Neither of which should even be part of the discussion, yet it's all that will be talked about.

It won't be the media that destroys Huckabee on this one. He'll just loose all insider favor within the Republican Party and will probably never run for public office again.

Dude!

this story is very important
for two reasons:

1. the perp is black
2. huckabee granted him clemency

they should both be executed

Quick, someone hack the parole records in Alaska. I'll get George Soros on the phone.

So -

1) They haven't found him.
2) He may or may not have a GSW
3) People may be helping him.

Place your bets.... I'm putting Dead from GSW at 2:1, Suicide by Cop 3:1, Straight Up Suicide 4:1, Successfully Captured 5:1, and at least one month on the lam at 10:1

Maybe now he'll get the execution he should have gotten years ago.

with his luck he'll end up in a mental institution with weekend supervised visits with his parents in 20 years

Looks like he got it. He was shot and killed by police. (http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/12/01/washington.suspect.shot/index.html)

Good.

Huckabee, in a statement released Sunday night, said Clemmons' release from prison had been reviewed and approved by the Arkansas parole board.

If Clemmons is found responsible for the police killings, "it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal-justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State," Huckabee said.

I love how Huckabee is trying to spin this.

Dude in the end it was your signature that got the guy released so you can blame anybody you want but we'll all know who ultimately effected it.

What did he gain by commuting the sentence of a guy that was serving 60 years while already being on the hook for 48 years ?

Was he going for the convict vote ?

He is heavily religious and there is speculation that that was motivation behind his approval of clemency, the christian value of redemption and such

Understandable but you mean to tell me nobody else serving time in the state was more deserving ?

Cutting almost 50 years from a sentence seems to be a little too generous.

I wonder if Huckabee showed preference towards pardoning those who "found God", becuase reading this guys letter to him, he blabs on and on about being saved and crap.

Score +1 for religion.

Unless that letter was signed by Jesus himself there's no way this guy should've been let out so early.

That's the reason that Huckabee has never gotten real traction within the Republican Party...he's a serious religious guy and walks the walk. He believes in helping the poor and forgiveness.

That will never play on a national level in that party.

While it is true that part of reason we have a prison system is for rehabilitating criminals, people seem to misunderstand that rehabilitation doesn't always mean being released into public again. I'm all for rehabbing scum like this, but do it behind bars.
