I opened the door last night at 1 am and the snow was blowing sideways, but it didn't seem that deep. I have yet to go out yet and check this morning though.
I have been hearing the rumble of the plows thoughout the night. I'm in a basement so I can't readily see out the window. Anyone know how deep it is by you?

Okay, I just peeked out. Deep! There are drifts everwhere and between the cars in my driveway I see 3 foot drifts, no shit.
It doesn't look like it's still snowing though, which is good. It looks powdery, which is also good for shoveling, but bad for blowing around. The wind is still blowing it around so it may drift worse. Hopefully this ends soon.

Its very common in cities or areas with very tight real estate. On the east side of Milwaukee they move snow all of the time.

They have designated areas where they move it to. I would be shocked if NYC didn't have a very well layed-out plan for such occurences.
