Another O&A bit bites the dust.

Sirius legal killed it today.

...they need to pull their own liability policy.
1mill policy for 12 hour shouldn't be more than 1000. I pay 1500 for a 1 mill policy that covers me for the year.
Next, cover the tab to dble the security for 6 hrs........I could happen
Solutions people, not problems

...and don't purchase the policy thru the facility. Purchase independently, and put the facility on your policy.

Did they mention it on the show today?

Yes, they did. I heard the replay so couldn't call in.

Yeah I just saw it on Opie's twitter too.

I wasn't a fan of it, but it's just ridiculous that they can't do ANYTHING anymore.

Poor Fezzie. He could of had such a nice X'mas too.

I was looking forward to it, good thing they didn't promote it before hand or anything. Love Sirius/XM, way to look out for the listeners!

Why was it cancelled?

Very disappointed, again. Sirius just doesn't give a shit about their old XM acquisitions.

it really seems like they are not doing a damn thing to be different from regular radio besides charging money.

Basically, they could do more on FM without cursing. I know all radio has changed in the past few years but it seems like no one wants to take a chance at all anymore.

Never really cared for it, fez was the only highlight I remember.

Still, you gotta hate the suits for having rods up their asses.

I have to say I was amazed when they said the shopping spree was coming back. I assumed that since they were actually recruiting the homeless, the lawyers had already signed off on it.

I think Opie and Anthony jumped the gun. Why did they even talk it up so much without an ok from the lawyers ?

And yes, I blame the whole problem on the lawyers.

It should be a pleasant show today

I blame O&A. The Homeless Shopping is a throwaway bit.

So they can complain about it and have show prep for when the lawyers eventually kill it.

It's interesting that Opie would be talking about how stupid the mall was for declining them when the shopping spree was so good for business, as it brought in "thousands of dollars" (Woohoo!) for the mall, then one minute later he's talking about how the bit started where they would go to a snooty mall and annoy all the rich people spending money, giving them a big fuck you. Great sell. I'm sure a large corporate entity will jump at the chance to get a one time influx of "thousands" of dollars, at the same time as alienating their affluent repeat customers. Maybe there is something wrong with the way the show presents these stunts?

Opie's spins are really weak. It was never beneficial to anyone but the O&A show. It was a great bit, that you could look forward to once a year, but is now part of the graveyard that the Corporations and Lawyers created.

Like the bit or not, its just another nail in the coffin. Its sad that Sirius couldn't get me to subscribe again even with offering me $20 dollars for 5 months deal. I just can't stand paying for what has become Radio again. This message board, audible.com, and youtube give me just enough fix these days.

I recommend everyone cancel thier subs and take them up on the giveaway offers they throw at you to keep you on board. Don't pay full price, cause it hasn't been worth it in years.

It's hard to imagine how it could generate so much money. If I'm trying to do some Christmas shopping, and suddenly a couple of radio douchebags come in with a pack of bums, I'm out of there.

In their defense, I don't really get the idea of having a mall "approve" the spree.

Make the stupid homeless sign waivers before they go, that way if one of them attacks someone on the trip, the company's not liable.

They're public shopping areas. They should just be able to show up with homeless people and shop. If people get out of hand, kick them out of the stores or the mall. The actually mall part only lasts something like an hour or an hour and a half.

Sirius is way overthinking this.

If it was the malls at fault.
Someone could take out adds in local newspapers near those malls.Something like so and so mall is unkind to the homeless.

Jimmy's reaction of just, "oh... no" when Opie says put it down is hilarious.

Yeah I liked the bit, the fantastic, crazy journey of these homeless people on the bus and through the mall. Of course now if there is any possible chance of being sued Sirius won't allow it.
