Why the FUCK didn't he just trade his federation credits with a weaker minded shop to buy the part from Waddo? I actually was at one of the midnight showings the night this cinematic turd premiered. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan by any means, but I got the chance to go, so I figured why the hell not.

The atmosphere before the movie started was electric. People were excited, there were people in the requisite Darth Vader and Han Solo costumes, of course, and I was having a blast myself. We were all getting fired up.

Then the movie started. The crawl comes up -- and we are told this is about a fucking trade dispute. And you could feel the air starting to leak out of the theatre.

When the movie ended, there was some applause...but not everyone. And the atmosphere leaving was far less festive.

I never saw the 'behind the scenes' for this movie since I really dislike Episode 1. You could definitely tell the people around Lucas didn't have the guts to tell him the movie was becoming awful.

I was skeptical, but I watched all 7 parts of the Phantom Menace review. Brilliant.

As much as everyone hated Episode 1, I thought Episode 2 was the worst of the three movies. At least Episode 1 matched Episodes 4-6 on an aesthetic level. Episode 2 changes the physical appearance of the movies. A movie full of Jar-Jar boring plot is still better than CP30 on the conveyor belts and more relationship development between Anakin and Obi Wan.

There isn't a second of Episodes 1-3 where Obi Wan treats Anakin like anything but an annoyance.

I loved in the Generations review how he pointed out that the Enterprise-B is the only ship within range of a ship 3 light years away -- when it has just cleared the asteroid belt, meaning it's somewhere between Mars and Jupiter.

So there are absolutely no starships other than this one within 3 light years of the fucking capital of the Federation. That would be like if the Air Force couldn't get any planes to Washington.

I'd definitely noted it with "First Contact", where Picard was getting all kill-crazy on the Borg when he'd shown them mercy on the TV series, even, as pointed out in the review, passing up a chance to completely wipe them out forever.

The thing about him on the show was that he had a complex, and even contradictory, personality, but he still managed to maintain his authority. At times in the movies, he just seems like he's nuts.

I'm really excited to check out the 90-minute "Attack of the Clones" review, but I am at work at the moment. Episode 2 is easily my least favorite "Star Wars" movie. I'll give "The Phantom Menace" some level of credit for sticking to the aesthetic conventions the original "Star Wars" trilogy, but "Attack of the Clones" has little to no resemblance to what a "Star Wars" movie is.

Kevin Smith probably had the best take on the newer Star Wars trilogy when he said something to the effect of, "The makers of Harry Potter give the fans credit for aging and the movies reflect the passage into adulthood. Lucas attempted to feed his long-time fans a Star Wars that was less mature than the original movies they watched."

alot of the phantom menace shit has over a million views. Im sure if you did that in a big city, someone within earshot would probably get it. i used to do shit like that at the mall with inside jokes from radio shows or movies or something to see how would laugh and who would just be confused.

the urban market stole my TV once, so I know they like to watch movies is probably the best line and the hardest i laughed at the new review. my favorite line overall is still from the phantom menace review

To that I say... no they don't. They like the pretty colors and the lasers. They like the sound fx. There's no way that anybody (much less a CHILD) could truly comprehend that clattering mess of a trilogy. They are a fucking disaster of storytelling.
