I had a conversation with another board member yesterday, one who I am starting not to like so much anymore, anyway... the question is what makes a guy "man enough for you"
what "masculine" attributes do you look for in a guy???

There is nothing more exhilerating than pointing out
the shortcomings of others, is there?

See what I mean? Only an over aged frat boy would find that hack Norton to be humorous.

well, there are a lot of things... someone man enough for me would be someone who is upfront and honest, and who doesn't get scared by his emotions. being able to admit to and confront how you are feeling and leaving yourself a little vulnerable earns big points in the "real man" column.
and big, strong arms don't hurt, either

Man enough...hmmm if you dont get extremly jealous if I'm around other guys, doesnt act like a little child, and doesnt act like they have to show off. But I havent met a guy who doesnt act like that...so I might give up.
I'm a 16 yr old gurl from L.I....and...I'm the Sweetest Pea in the Pod! :D

Here we go. Tommy, there
is nothing wrong with being
an overaged frat boy. At all.
But for me I think the
difference in definition
between a boy and a man
is not so much in say what
they actually do (have a job,
be responsible, when they
go out and party like a rock
staretc.) but it is a
perspective on life and what
their priorities are. I don't
think it is necessarily
something that can be
expressed in words, but it is
about being 'grown up', as it
were. A boy has to gain a
certain self-awareness
before they can be a man.
Am I really one to judge
this? Not really. But nobody
else is either, and you did
ask.

Being man enough means owning up to your own responsibilities.
Being man enough means knowing when to pursue something when its worth purusing or giving it closure when its not.

Aya- Good call, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Being man enough isnt about how physically masculine you are or how much beer you can drink or how many people think you're a fun guy, or any other stupid "measure of manliness".
Being man enough is about having your fucking act together and doing things that will positively affect the course of your life.
By these defintions: I do not know many men who are manly enough but I know a few who are on the right track.

Being man enough means owning up to your own responsibilities.
I owned my own home by myself at 28.
Being man enough means knowing when to pursue something when its worth purusing or giving it closure when its not.
I did everything I could to be with someone I loved more than anything, but when we realized it was not right, I knew when to acknowledge it.
Being man enough is about having your fucking act together and doing things that will positively affect the course of your life.
I recently stopped drinking. It's a 30 day period, but may last more permanantly.

Honesty is a must. And as far as scared of emotions or confronting how I'm feeling and leaving myself a little vulnerable...I was willing to post all this stuff without worrying about being tooled on.

I never understood that. No one owns anyone. And if you're out, and your significant other is doing something on purpose to make you feel that way, then they're not the one for you.

Yes, indeed we are DEVO.

I'm working on it.

Actually Sheepy, that's a damn good song.
So go ahead, make fun if you want, but hey, it's not often around this joint I get to be open and sincere, and if anything, I'd like the ladies to know that there are some decent guys around, even if they don't look like they fell out of a magazine. There's even a few of us on this board. Good luck, I hope you find one. Sorry for the long post.

My friend wrote this poem so I asked her if I could borrow it. It seems to go with this topic.
You take what you want
when you want
use me
abuse my heart
take advantage of my kindness
I should be more of a bitch
stop by for sex
when it's convenient for you
never when it's for me
just for me
thats all I ask
and I don't ask for much
now do I?
In fact, I don't ask for anything
from you
I've never asked for your love
never taken your heart
on the soul train for my joy ride
listen to me cry
and tell me not to shed tears
hold my gaze
see me seeing you
you're on your way out the door
I can feel it
Are you man enough to tell me
face to face
or will you just leave
without a trace
What A Woman Wants In A Man
1. Handsome
2. Charming
3. Financially successful
4. A caring listener
5. Witty
6. In good shape
7. Dresses with style
8. Appreciates the finer things
9. Full of thoughtful surprises
10. Listens more than he talks
12. Can carry in all the groceries with ease
13. Appreciates a good home cooked meal
14. Remembers birthdays and anniversaries
The above define a real man. If he can love, listen, learn, appreciate, and be honest with you; you've got yourself a real nice gentleman.
