Wow. I didn't realize he had been that ill. Vance must be heartbroken.

I never understood the point of his show. He talked about sports on a sunday night without??? a bowl of food next to him and huge mug of diet coke??? How are people gonna relate to something like that?

I always thought his show was incomplete as well.

I would have respected his opinion on the jets losses if he had some chocolate covered pretzels next to him.

I will miss his jailhouse interviews with Dexter Manley. They were a Christmas tradition in my family.

I thought of the other one also.
His show was great. Towards the end of it hot chicks would come out.
Something ESPN needs to pick up on.

Fuck, really?

Pre Sports Center I used to bartend every Sunday night, then we'd go over to a buddies bar and watch the Sports Machine.

RIP, Man.

That blows. Long live the Sports Machine! As a kid, those big colorful buttons were awesome. Moment of silence before Skins/Dallas this Sunday night?

He will indeed never ever dance again.
And he'll never shovel another driveway.

Oops. I was thinking about Bob Ryan.

Jim Vance still wears the best fucking suits on TV news.

Good article in the Washington Post about him today. A few things I didn't know. In the 60's, he was a record promoter, who's main job was trying to get Midwest stations to play Motown records. He was later a popular rock DJ in Philly, before moving on to WABC in NYC.

Hmm... Philly. No wonder he was so close with Sunny Jorgensen.

Don and Mike used to play tapes from his DJ days all the time. Don Twittered a really nice tribute to him on his site. He called him a DJ first and a sportscaster second.
