Does anyone own a pair of these headphones ?
I got a couple of best buy gift cards over the holidays and I am thinking about picking up a pair. They sound nice from what I have experienced in the store, but I am just not sure about the durability of them as I would probably also use them on the go along with my phone.
Anyone ?

I haven't tried the DRE's but...
if you're looking for a pair of in-ears that deliver the goods, I suggest you try the new in ears by Monster Cable called TURBINES.
They're 99 bucks. Bass is really punchy and good.
The downside is, (as with any and all earphones) you need a good seal or all the bottom end is lost. If you don't have a good seal in and around your ears, the bass will be completely absent. With the TURBINES, that seal is kinda hard to maintain. They have to sit jusssst right in your ears or they will ultimately sound like any old pair of $7 dollar earphones.
Experiment with the various silicone tips that come with them. Experiment with exactly how far to push them into your ears. And, experiment with the EQ settings on your ipod. Once you find your sweet spot, the TURBINES are killer.

Thanks Fezident, but the in ear versions kill my ears with prolonged use so I am looking for a comfortable over the ear model.

Okay.
So... you're gonna go with the "Solo" model, yes??
Here's a link to a thread over on HeadFi that discusses them in detail.

I haven't scoped it out yet but, the headfi boys take their headphones very seriously.
I was a beta-tester for Futuresonics a few years ago when they were developing their new "MG5" drivers for my onstage InEarMonitors.
I learned a lot over at headfi. If you need a password or whatever... lemme know and we can PM each other.

I've tried them out in the Apple Store and I love them. If I had $300 to spend on headphones I'd totally get them.

I don't see how Dr. Dre could know anything about the electronics of making headphones. I went with Shure ear buds and love them.

Well, I did it.
I paid 300 dollars on a pair of headphones. Apart from feeling like a tool for paying so much for headphones, I am digging them.
I am by no means an audiophile but I am testing them out right now listening to Embryonic by the Flaming Lips. I have never listened to the Flaming Lips but I am enjoying the Pink Floydish sound that is coming through the headphones.
If I went from the website you provided fezident, I would have never bought them, because the consensus was they suck. They might not be the best, but they are the are the best that was available at Best Buy where I had gift cards.

That website is only a reference. Those guys' opinion definitely can sometimes be "wrong".
Like.... they'll hate a pair of headphones for being "too much fun". Or too "flashy". Or for having "too much bass". (no such thing, smilie winkieface LOL)
I suspect that you will fall in love with the Dr. Dres after after they've burned-in for a few days. Lemme know!

Well they just don't hand out Doctorates. Maybe his area of study was Audio Engineering?
