Live long and prosper Jean-Luc... (http://www.examiner.com/x-31056-Dallas-Speculative-Fiction-Examiner%7Ey2009m12d31-Star-Treks-Patrick-Stewart-Knighted)
"This is an honor that embraces those actors, directors and creative teams who have in these recent years helped fill my life with inspiration, companionship and sheer fun," said 69-year-old Stewart, who recently returned to the British stage following a long career in Hollywood that included playing Professor Charles Xavier in three "X-Men (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120903/)" films.

Somewhere, a geek is adding this fact to his "Kirk v. Picard" debate blog.

He got to meet the Queen, and he thought he'd like to see her naked, so all her clothes fell off. And the Queen was scrabbling around to get them back on again, but before she could even get her knickers on, Sir Patrick had seen everything. He'd seen it all.

Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.
Uzani, his army at Lashmir. Uzani, his army, with fists open. His army with fists closed.
Mirab, his sails unfurled.

What the hell did he do besides wear snug slacks and look pensive?

I think the knighthood is actually more for his work on the British stage -- he's been one of the top Shakespearean actors there for a long time.
Besides, that one episode of ST:TNG where the Cardassians capture him and he's being interrogated/tortured by that Cardassian dude (played by David Warner, no slouch of an actor himself) is pretty damn good.
And THERE...ARE...FOUR...LIGHTS! (http://fourlights.ytmnd.com/)

Was it Cim Cardassian?
Congratulations Sir Facepalm.

Patrick Stewart has been upgraded from captain to knight.
The actor famous for playing Capt. Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation officially became Sir Patrick Stewart when he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
While Star Trek introduced him to a different group of fans, Stewart is also a widely respected stage actor.
The 69-year-old actor discovered the theatre as a child, and said my heroes were Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Alec Guinness. Being in that company is the grandest thing that has professionally happened to me.
Stewart joined Britain's storied Royal Shakespeare Company in his 20s, and in 2008 was nominated for a Tony award for the leading role in Macbeth.

This is such a great honor, I think we should play Patrick Stewart a song...
I can't think of a specific one that would be good though....
maybe one that's been around the internet for a few years and honors him....
I'm drawing a blank here. Any help?
